The purpose of this paper is to report on a measurement trial of axial force in a bolt to be applied to a cyclic load using a piezo cable. The cable winds up the piezo film in the surrounding electric wire. It also generate high voltage for amplifiers when the cyclic loading is applied, which does not require instruments because it has a piezoelectric. Accordingly, we measured the axial force in the bolt using the piezo cable. In this report, two kinds of experiments were conducted, when the cyclic load was applied to the joint of the bolt. One using a shearing load and the other a tensile load. The shearing load tests of the bolt were carried out using the jig of the shearing joint in which shear force was applied to the bolt joints. The output voltage was generated in proportion to the length of the piezo cable. For the shearing joint, it was increased for the number of planes the cable crossed, So that the output voltage of the cable increased. When applied load frequency increased, the output voltage appeared in proportion to the frequency of the cyclic load. It was thus possible to detect the axial force of the bolt using the piezo cable, when tension and shear load were applied to the bolt.
