JAXA/ISAS developed a reusable LOX/LH2 rocket engine for the Reusable Sounding Rocket and conducted 142 engine firings. To reuse the main combustion chamber, it is important to develop an effective non-destructive inspection technique to confirm its intactness and to assure its life. In the series of firing tests, the combustion chamber was inspected four times by a high-energy X-ray CT system. A new analytical technique was developed to evaluate deformation smaller than the spatial resolution of the X-ray CT system. Deformation of the chamber’s wall thickness was successfully evaluated with the newly developed technique, and validity of the evaluated result and reliability of the technique were also confirmed.
