Latent image is one of micro-machining techniques, it is applied to 500 Japanese yen coin to cope with the counterfeit techniques. This study presents the results of investigations on latent-image machining. In this paper, first, simple operation CAM system for latent image has been developed. Use of the CAM system allows the manufacturing of a latent-image machining sample. The present study then investigated the facilities for latent-image machining, the tool, and machining conditions. Moreover, the cost for latent-image machining is calculated. At the same time, experiments were conducted to clarify the current problems in latent-image machining.

Although the external electrode of multi-layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) is formed through the burning process after coating the liquid state of Ag paste on the base material of the dielectric ceramics, there is an issue that the coating shape of the film thickness of the external electrode is not uniform enough by the influence of the surface tension. However, there are various changes occurred at the phenomenon by providing the ultrasonic vibration to the liquid, and therefore, it can be projected that it becomes to be similar to the ideal coating shape of this Ag paste. In this study, we thought that the coating shape becomes better by controlling the surface tension which is obtained by adding the ultrasonic vibration at the Ag paste coating to the laminated chip condenser and aimed to verify it by the experiment. As a result, we could find the beginning which controls the surface tension and improves the coating shape, by controlling ultrasonic vibration.

This paper describes about a translucency measurement for translucent objects. The translucent objects in this paper are the object which translucency changes with deterioration of freshness like a squid mantle. The translucency measurements by the conventional method are affected by the thickness of the sample. We propose a new method that can solve this problem in this paper. In our method, we project a stripe pattern to the translucent object and quantify the translucency from its brightness of irradiated part and shielded part. The translucency measurement by our method has the merits that can reduce influence of changing of sample thickness and influence of fluctuation of irradiation light intensity. We tried a translucency measurement of translucent white resin samples. We made 12 kinds of plastic samples whose translucency and thickness were different, then measured those translucency by our method. Experimental results showed that we could measure translucency with reducing of the dependence of the thickness of sample and the intensity of irradiation light.
