The thickness comparator type was treated in the first report. Now in this second report concerning the wire comparator type, which is another case of the fundamental uses, the relationship among its sensitivity, the suitable size to be measured, the dimensions of the path of escaping air, and its using way is analysed dynamically as well as in the first report, When the ratio of diameter of two bores is larger than about two, the characteristics are generally similar to those related in the previous report with respect to the diameter of the clearance of air-escapement. If the ratio is small, the magnification becomes smaller. But, on the other hand, the suitable clearance to be measured becomes larger, and the errors caused by the atmospheric variations, the eccentricity of wire in the air-escaping bore, and the distorted circle of the section can be negligible. From these points it is very suitable as the comparator for wire thickness or for fibres and textile materials.
