    被圧接材にNi基超耐熱鋳造合金713Cと窒化鋼SACM-1の10mmφ中実軸を用いて摩擦圧接実験を行なった結果を概括するとっぎのとおりである
    1)最適圧接条件を決定するには,実験回数も少なく断定的な結論は得られなかったが,本実験では,リングを使用してSACM-1側の自由変形を防止し,回転数2400rpm,加熱圧力P110.8kg/mm2,アプセット圧力P219.0kg/mm2,加圧時間T20sec以上に圧接条件を設定した場合には,引張り強さはSACM-1母材と同程度であり,接合部で破断することはなかった.
    2)X線マイクロアナライザによる線分析の結果,加圧時間が長いため接合部は複雑な様相を示し,幅約50μのじょう乱層中に引きちぎられた713C材が存在することが認められた.
    3)また,アプセット部分外周に母材中のAl等が圧接時に酸化して生じたと思われるAl2O3,Cr2O3等の介在物が本実験で認められたが,母材部分にはこれらの介在物は認められず713C材とSACM-1材の接合状態はほぼ完全であった.
    一般に耐熱材料の溶接では,脱酸剤や析出物等の影響でクラック等の欠陥が起きやすく,無酸化雰囲気中で作業をする必要がある等完全な溶接作業を行なうことは困難であるが,摩擦圧接によれば,これらの問題は上述のように無視することができ,今後耐熱材の溶接法として実施可能と考えられる.

    For many watch-gear-tooth profiles approximate cycloid curves consisting of arcs of circles and straight lines are being used. But watch-gears cannot always be hobbed, for in some cases there is no mating rack profile which is the tooth shape of the hob. This paper describes theoretically the possibilities of existence of mating racks for watch-gears.
    These conditions are as follows :
    (1) The mating rack profile should not have any cusps.
    (2) The right and left tooth profiles of the mating rack should not intersect each other within the depth of gear teeth.
    From these conditions the ranges of watch-gear-tooth profiles for which the mating racks exist are obtained, and it is shown that in cases of the gears with large numbers of teeth the mating racks for any tooth profile can exist, if the generating circles are chosen suitably, but in cases of small numbers of teeth the mating racks for certain tooth profiles cannot exist.

    The magnetic scale is a measuring apparatus applying the magnetic recording technique. It is the aim of the present work to discuss the performance of magnetic recording systems in the fundamental aspects in order to increase the accuracy of the magnetic scale. This paper deals with the experimental analysis of “a single magnetization distribution”, that is, a variation of the magnetization recorded by a direct current on a magnetizable medium being at rest in front of a recording head with distance. Where the distribution measurements are curried out with a flux-response reproducing head whose out put voltage is proportional to the strength of magnetization. The single magnetization distribution function, which can well explain the experimental results, is shown. It is clear from experiments that four parameters in the distribution function are very effective in explanation of the characteristics of the single magnetization distribution. Finaly, as a result of the above discussion, it is proposed to use the single magnetization distribution as a means to determine the composite performance of magnetic recording systems.

    This report deals with the method of cold rolling of the circular-arc gears with the preliminarymethod of the tooth-profile-checking. The generating machine of the gears with circular-arc tooth curve has more complicated mechanism than hobbing machine, and it is not easy to understand their tooth properties.
    The analytical consideration is done for obtaining the method of tooth-profile-checking of the gears and following results are obtained:
    (1) Under the condition of actual design, the profile inspection of the gear teeth can be done by an involute checking machine.
    (2) To simplify the production process the generating motion is omitted while the teeth are being cut by face-mill type cutters. After that the rough shaped blank is finished by rolling with three gear-shaped dies.
    (3) The experimental results are as follows: Accuracy of the rolling gears is influenced mainly by blank accuracy. If the single pitch error is kept within JIS gear quality class 4 to 5, its class after rolling becomes within the class 2 to 3. The other kinds of accuracy such as runout, total composite error show the similar tendency to the single pitch error.

    This report presents fundamental equations to analyze the behavior of vibration with collision for following papers in which it will be discussed in more detail, and some elemental results concerning the colliding waveform. The vibration system treated is one degree of freedom with viscous damping and the duration time of collision is not neglected. At resonance, the motion can be regarded approximately as a harmonic vibration, when the viscous damping and the duration time of collision is negligible small, and the amplitude does not increase more than that of the no-impact vibration. At non-resonance, the characteristic of waveform is determined mainly by the frequency ratio and colliding position. Influenced by them and also the coefficient of restitution, the amplitude and velocity of collision vary over wide range.
    The experimental apparatus to prove the analytical results of this study are also described. The variable viscous damping to be covered wide range is easily obtained by an auxiliary electronic analog circuit which is available to feed back such voltage that is proportional to the vibration velocity. The analytical results are confirmed by experimental studies in good agreement.

    The role of the effective cutting edge spacing on the grinding performance is studied and a new dressing method is devised for this purpose.
    By this new device, it becomes possible to adjust the spacings of the effective cutting edge on the working surface of the grinding wheels, and therefore, to investigate the effect of spacing on the grinding performance. In order to examine the effect, redresslife tests were carried out and also the radial wheel wear, the surface roughness of the workpiece are measured. Moreover, from the microscopic point of view the effective cutting edge spacing and the cutting edge ratio in the grinding process are examined.
    The main conclusions obtained in this study are as follows:
    1) Within the range of this study, the longer is the effective cutting edge spacing, the better grinding performance is obtained and the performance is improved about ten times in some cases.
    2) For the life time value of the effective cutting edge spacing and the cutting edge ratio, the former tends to increase while the latter to decrease, as the initial effective cutting edge spacing becomes longer. Therefore, the redress life of the grinding wheel is found to be influenced not only by the cutting edge ratio as previously predicted but also by the effective cutting edge spacing, which is indicated in this study.

    EMX およびSEMを使ってラップ加工面に残留する砥粒の量を測定し,その存在機構を観察した.また,残留砥粒がラップ加工面の変質層深さに大きな影響を与えていることを実験結果から推論した.本実験で得られた主な結果をまとめるとっぎのようになる.
    (1)Si単結晶のようなぜい性材料のラップ加工面では砥粒はクラックの間に弾性的に保持された形で残っている.残留している砥粒の大きさはラップ距離が長くなるにつれて次第に小さくなる.
    (2)残留砥粒率はラップ圧力,ラップ距離によらずほぼ一定である.しかし,残留砥粒率の標準偏差はラップ距離が長くなるにっれて減少する.
    (3)残留砥粒はきわめて短時間(少量)のエッチングを行なうことによってその大部分(80~90%)を除去することができる.
    (4)摩耗したラップはきわめて小さい粒子となって加工面に移着していることが明らかとなった.その移着率はラップ距離が長くなるにつれて増加する.X線回折によると移着したラップの微粒子はSiと化学反応生成物を作っている可能性が認められる.
    (5)残留砥粒はその存在機構から,クラックを強制的に拡げ,クラックの先端に応力集中を生じさせている.そのために加工変質層の大部分を占める弾性変形領域が厚くなっている.

    This paper describes the carriage feeding accuracy of a screw cutting lathe. The accuracy is measured with laser over about 1 m and is compared with the results obtained by the standard scale and micrometer microscope. The measurements are made by a counting technique of laser interference fringes with an automatic accumulating digital counter made on trial.
    It is supposed that the carriage feeding accuracy will be affected by thermal expansion of the lead screw, that is, frictional heat occurring between the nut and the lead screw. The continuous positional measurement with laser will also be available for this problem. The main results are as follows:
    (1) The carriage feeding accuracy measured with the laser and the digital counter is in good agreement with the results of the standard scale and micrometer microscope under the maximum deviation of 3.5 μm in the range of about 1 m.
    (2) In the case where the carriage traveles repeatedly 8 or 9 times at a speed of 0.73 mm/s, its feeding accuracy changes about +3 μm on account of the thermal expansion of the lead screw. This results show good agreement with theoretical values.

    In this paper, the factors affecting the scratch hardness of pure metals determined by scratching test with the standard Vickers indenter are considered. The main results obtained are as follows: (1) There is practically no difference between the scratch hardness of annealed pure metals and of cold-rolled ones. (2) The scratch hardness Hd is related to the scratching velocity υ over the velocity range of 2.3 × 10-3 to 2.3 mm/s by a relation of the form Hd=covn (cου, n: cοn nstant). (3) Hd is related to the grain size diameter d by a relation of the form Hd= Hdi+ kd-1/2, where, k is independent of the scratching velocityυ but Hdi increases as v increases.

    In the previous papers, a cutting-beginning-model in the dry and low speed cutting was experimentally proposed.
    In this paper, that model is discussed for when the cutting speeds are raised to about 30 m/min and for wet cutting using light oil, colza-oil or carbon tetrachloric.
    The main results are as follows:
    (a) In the dry cutting
    (1) The apparent coefficient of friction μ at the rubbing region is constant over the range of cutting speeds investigeted.
    (2) The value of μ is decreased according to the increase of cutting speed at the ploughing and its succeeding regions.
    (b) In the wet cutting
    (1) At the rubbing region, the normal force Ft is almost constant regardless of the cutting fluids used, but the tangential force Fc, is varied.
    (2) At the ploughing and the subsequent regions, Ft is decreased with increasing μ.
    This phenomenon may be fully explained by the yielding condition of von Mises in the plane stress state considering the friction stress.
