    フォトファブリケーション(以下PFと略称)による製造技術は,航空宇宙やIC,LSI,超LSI,超精密部品等の要求にこたえて,手法も巧緻となり,飛躍的に応用範囲も広がり始めた.この技術は,新しい加工法という段階から,製品そのものの考え方についても異なった可能性を提供するものであり,多くの着想や発想が生まれつつある.
    まずこの技術の前提となる感光レジスト(photo-sensitive resist)の概要を述べる.感光レジストも,電子ビームやX線露光(波長1~10Å)用には新しいレジストの分野が生まれつつあり,これは他の章で述べられるので,この章ではフォトレジスト(photoresist)について説明する.

    Surface roughness in turning is decided by controllable factors as the tool geometry and feed, uncontrollable phenomena as the presence of built-up edge, variation of relative position on tool-work and change of tool shape. On the other hand, in case of surface roughness in numerically controlled turning, the movement of tool which is driven by pulse motor becomes one of the important factors. This paper describes the analysis and experiments of surface roughness in optional taper turning by NC lathe with respect to the controllable factors. The results are that the theoretical area of surface roughness R is shown as follows;
    fa2/8rRr+1/2{bmax-fa√4r2/fa2+bmax2-1}.
    The experimental results approximately agree with the theoretical area of surface roughness.

    The glow-curve characteristics (25-239°C) of photostimulated exoelectron emission for aluminium surface ground using a surface grinding machine have been examined. The intensity of emission for the surface ground with WA (Al2O3) grinding wheels (grain size, 60 and 120) was much larger than that for GC (SiC) wheels (grain size, 60 and 120), and the former exhibited two peaks of the emission intensity at about 100 and 200°C and the latter only one peak at about 100°C. The surface for WA wheel of smaller grain size emitted more electrons, but in the case of GC wheels the difference in grain size had little effect. The number of electrons emitted for upward grinding was larger than that for downward grinding with the exception of the case of WA 120 grinding wheel. When the photostimulation was stopped during measuring the emission, the emission intensity in a lower temperature region remarkably decreased particularly in the case of the surface ground with GC grinding wheels. With the aid of exoelectron emission, the electronic property of ground metal surface may be revealed.

    Based on the analysis developed in "Study on Buffer Storage in Production Line Systems (1st Report)" this report will address itself to mainly the following problems about two-stage lines: (1) Should buffer stocks be used ? (2) What are the effects of given buffer capacity on the line efficiency and the number of mean buffer stocks ? (3) What are the effects of variation of breakdown rates and that of repair rates ? To answer these questions investigation on the line efficiency and the mean buffer stocks for various system parameters of two-stage lines has been carried out. It is to be shown that there are three kinds of line efficiency 'curves and three kinds of mean buffer stock curves, and that installing buffer storage is most effective when the breakdown rates are high and the mean repair time is short, and that the difference of breakdown rates reduces the effects of installing a buffer and that of repair rates does not and therefore the stages should be designed to have approximately the same breakdown rates.

    The wear characteristics of the carbide cutting tools in cutting carbon steel (S 45 C) and alloy steel (SCM 3) with various heat treatment are analysed, as well as cutting mechanism and cutting temperature are experimentally measured. It is found that the increase of the hardness of work material increases of the cutting force and cutting temperature with a rather low rate, while it increases the wear rate of the carbide cutting tools with a considerably high wear rate. These experimental results are summarized as that the specific wear rates of the carbide cutting tools are expressed as a single function of cutting temperature in the case of various heat treatment of work material, widely change of cutting condition and different work materials.

    The elimination process of the runout of workpiece, that is generated in the previous stage of production, is experimentally analyzed, in both cases that all of the initial runout are eliminated through the infeed range, and that a part of the initial runout is eliminated through the infeed range and then the other part of the initial runout through the spark-out range. The analysis makes it clear for the former that the grinding time for eliminating the runout is equal to the sum of the spark-in grinding time and the infeed time of wheelslide by the initial runout, and that the stock allowance for eliminating the runout is equal to the sum of the initial runout and the amount of size generation through the spark-in grinding state. The analysis also points it out for the latter that the grinding time and the stock allowance for eliminating the runout are affected by the eliminated amount of the initial runout through the infeed range.

    In skiving process, a form turning tool is moved tangentially in an off-center position for workpiece by the cross feed. This paper deals with the mechanism of skiving for cylindrical shape with straight cutting edge analytically and experimentally as a fundamental study. Undeformed chip thickness, active rake angle, active clearance angle, active inclination angle (for three-dimensional cutting edge) and cutting speed vary as the tool travels and along the cutting edge. Since undeformed chip thickness decreases to zero at the end of tool stroke, good surface finish is obtained by the burnishing action. Maximum value of cutting area and its position in relation with the required travel length depend upon a plan angle of a tool. And also the plan angle influences the chip thickness, flow angle and shape of chip curl. A decrease of cutting ratio in a finished region is considered to be the effect of the decreased chip thickness.
