The three cases of feline dermatophytosis due to
Microsporum canis were treated with oral administration of lufenuron suspension with food at doses of 90-170 mg/kg, every 2 weeks. Clinical recovery was observed after administration of 2 times in case 1 and 3, and 5 times in case 2. Fungal culture and direct examination terned to negative in 8 weeks in case 1, 11 weeks in case 2, and 4 weeks in case 3, after institution of therapy. In case 3, a new and fungus positive lesion developed at the other part of skin 3 weeks after the initial recovery but the cat responded well to the treatment with same protocols. As a result, oral administration of lufenuron is expected to be effective for some cases of dermatophytosis.
