Love wave is able to propagate in media, if the shear wave velocity in the surface layer is slower than that in half infinite media. Love wave exhibits velocity dispersion, if the shear wave velocity of the sediment under the seabed surface depends on the depth. Therefore, it is possible to obtain the shear wave velocity profile of marine sediment, from velocity dispersion characteristics. In this study, we fabricate the tool for generating Love wave, and in situ experiments of Love wave in ground are conducted, and group velocity dispersion characteristics are obtained using multiple filter method. Next, depth dependence of shear wave velocity is obtained from group velocity dispersion characteristics by an inversion method.
