This paper discusses the segmented piezoelectric ceramic ring as a specific design approach to the radiation of low-frequency sound in water.
The ring has been wound with glass fibres under tension to prestress the ceramic. Barium titanate ring; 305 mm dia; resonate in air at about 5 kHz.
The transmitting voltage response agree within ±2dB with the theoretical prediction.
Source level is 99dB re 1 μbar-m at 4.4 kHz; when input voltage of 6000 Vp-p is applied.
We measured aging characteristic of this projector between about seven years.
From this results, the projector properties insensitive to aging.
