This paper discusses an interactive Classroom Information System (CIS) for teachers. The CIS is a kind of Computer Managed Instruction (CMI) systems which provides a teacher with information for instructional decision making. Since the teacher makes instructional decision successively, it is advisable for him to use interactively the computer. However, the usual batch processing CMI system takes a long turn-around time. So, we have developed an interactive CMI system on-line/real time processing CMI system. Our CMI system has been experimentally employed by teachers of Nippon Electric Institute of Technology and so on. The teacher's utilization effect of this system has appeared clearly in comparison to the traditional batch processing CMI system. For example, instructional data input speed was reduced by about one-fourth compared with the traditional coding sheet input method. Moreover, this input method can simplify input troubles and reduce error rates. As the results of this utilization, the following features have been clear : (1) Instructional data recording, (2) Interactive data analysis and decision making, (3) Teacher's operation and system operation guide. In this paper, with focus on these features and practical utilization results, (a) S-P score table analysis, (b) CMI system construction, and (c) Teacher's operation and utilization are discussed in order.
