School building design became one of the specialized branches of architecture in general from around 1955. One of the primarily aims of school building architecture is the observation and investigation of the relationships between school building space and design and the behaviors of teachers and students. School buildings are important socially. Major design considerations include earthquake resistance, social use, floor-space standards and building systems. This is a report on the progress which has been made over the past thirty years, to include a list of 18 specific areas where progress has been most noticeable.
