The high
Bs (6300 G; 0,63 T) Mn-Zn ferrite poly-crystals (
K1~0, λ
s≫0) with high permeability at high frequency by control of their microstructure were examined for application to the material of “Winchester” type monolithic computer head. The high
Bs head showd superiority in the recording density, D
50, and wave width, P
w50, compared with that of one made of conventional Mn-Zn ferrite (
Bs~5000 G; 0.5 T), due to the improvement of the magnetic field at the gap of the head because of its high saturation magnetization. However, the problem of head output deterioration after increasing the CSS (Contact Start Stop) remained.
