Crystal structures and magnetic properties of (Fe

100-XM
X (M= Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Y, Cu, Pt, Al, Si, Ge;
X=0∼10) alloys annealed at 900°C were investigated. The crystal structures are b. c. c. for M= V, Nb, Y, Cu, Pt, a mixture of b. c. c. and f. c. c. for M= Ge,
X= 2∼4, and b. c. c. plus unidentified structures for M=Ti, Zr. The saturation magnetic flux density
Bs decreases extremely for M=Ti, Nb. Ge, decreased slightly for M=Al, Si and remains unchanged for M =Pt. The saturation magnetostriction increases up to∼10
-4 for M=Pt, increases slightly for M=Cu, Ti, Zr,
X=2 and decreases slightly for other M elements. The saturation magnetostriction constants λ
s are roughly proportional to
B2s.
