    The Japan Center for International Finance (JCIF) started online information service and electronic document delivery in October, 1983. The former paper introduced the planning process, the system concept, service content and practical usage procedure. In this paper fundamental stance as a database producer is clarified, including practical examples thereof. The present status of and future prospects for use of the database are discussed.

    The authors outline the historical progress in Chinese scientific & technological information activities centered around National Scientific and Technological Information Conference which was held six times so far based on Long-Term Progress Plan of Science & Technology. The first 10 year-progress started in 1956, the next was the period of Culture Revolution, and the third is going on. Now that national information system is almost established, followings are introduced : how information is acquired and provided, and how information retrieval service, standardization and training or education for personnels are conducted. The application of computers to information sectors or libraries is also described.

    Introduction is made to current practice of the INIS as well as beneficial execution of the 1984 INIS Training Seminar, which was held in Japan on 22-27 October. Under the proper guidance of three lecturers from IAEA, 28 trainees from 9 countries performed 4-day exercises in one of the three courses (subject analysis, descriptive cataloguing and online retrieval) in Tokyo. All of the participants visited to see some organizations related to information processing and documentation in Tsukuba Science City and JAERI at Tokai-mura for the last two day. These curriculum led to not only realization of substantial training but also promotion of friendly understanding of Japan and among them.
