Authority control is recognized one of the essential and most important function to maintain library catalog data bases and also usefull for OPAC although Japanese library community have neglected. Kunitachi College of Music Library has been producing and maintaining authority files with respect to quality control of music catalog. A number of authority files of Kunitachi College of Music Library, being stored in cooperation with private library supply house, is almost 80,000. These are small, comparing with USMARC authority files which has being organized as a nation wide project, producing by the Library of Congress in cooperation with many libraries in the States, joining to the NACO project. But this is adaptable to biscript bibliographic records of music and any other materials and also well functioning in OPAC system of the Kunitachi College of Music Library.

The directory database system for earth science and technology information was developed in JICST in 1990 and had been provided since 1992. On behalf of this system, the comprephensive information system has been recently developed and has been provided since October, 1995. The former system had some inconvenient points on the access route, the language of the database, and the hardware. These points have been solved by establishing the access routes not only via public lines but also via Internet, by developing the Japanese database system and by replacing the mainframe with the workstations. This paper mainly describes the system configuration, the contents of the database and the procedure for accessing data.
