Konan University is currently installing access points to everywhere on the campus under the joint support of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, in order for wireless LAN terminals to connect remotely to the local area campus network and the Internet. The project has started about three years ago, and will last the next year. The wireless LAN terminals, each of which is composed of a laptop computer and an inserted wireless LAN PC card have been distributed to some of the students and the professors. Then, we performed some experiments targeting a future ubiquitous computing/networking environment. In this environment, each student will utilize information services as needed by means of a mobile terminal in every space. In this paper, the current wireless campus LAN environment and educational on-line services are shown and summary of the experiments is reported.
