We carried out a filtration experiment for three or four months using a phosphoric adsorbent material in aquarium and landscaping pond to study on the effects to the water quality purification and the fish habit.
The summary of the results is shown below:
1) In a three-month aquarium filtration test, in a case where an amount of the phosphoric adsorbent material was 0.2% and the bait was 0.5g per day, the degree of turbidity, PO
4-P, NO
3-N, NH
4-N were remarkably reduced with removal rates of 82.3%, 98.7%, 59.4% and 99.5%, respectively, as compared to those of untreated one. The removal rates were slightly lower than four times the amount of bait.
2) In a case where the amount of the phosphoric adsorbent material was 0.5% to the water volume of the landscaping pond, during the period of four months, the turbidity was kept at 2°, degree of transparency to be 50cm, PO
4-P to be 0.016 mg/l.
3) It was found that the contaminants, N and P in water could be effectively removed by using the phosphoric adsorbent material, showing improvements in water quality purification and at the same time giving no harmful effects to the fish habit.
