Batch experiments for the hydrogen fermentation using wheat bran of a Flour Company in Kanagawa prefecture under various conditions of temperatures (25°C, 35°C, 45°C) and initial pHs (4, 5, 6, 7) were conducted without seed sludge.
The results showed that the maximum hydrogen productivity reached 80.4mg/g-VS under both conditions of temperature25°C and initial pH6.
Analyzing components of liquors under various experiment conditions, we found the following maximum degradation efficiencies; carbohydrates reached 89.2% at 35°C and initial pH7, proteins reached 54.1% at 25°C and initial pH4, lipids reached 51.2% at 45°C and initial pH5.
