The aim of this study is to contribute to the development of microbial techniques that can stabilize hydrogen fermentation systems from garbage. A mixed culture of Clostridium beijierinckii, Enterobacter aerogenes and Candida maltosa produced H2 at a rate of 5.1mmol H2/g dry-garbage with an H2 yield of 2 mol H2/mol hexose in a semi-continuous culture. The mixed culture has the possibility to contribute to the development of microbial techniques that can stabilize hydrogen fermentation systems using waste biomass.
