Purpose
A field test was carried out using a 950 mm diamer and eleven stage fluidized-bed pilot column to develop a multistage fluidized-bed activated carbon adsorption equipment and to predict the multistage fluidized-bed adsorption performancet by computer simulation.
Results
The granular activated carbon (20/40 mesh) was used.
Linear velocity of wastewater through the column was 25 m/hr, and the expansion ratio of the activated carbon bed was about 100%.
The pilot plant was operated stably by full automatic control. The treated water quality corresponded to the activated carbon dosage to the adsorption column.
The predicted results by computer simulation and the performance of the multistage fluidized-bed adsorption column were in good agreement.
