Influence of high hydrostatic pressure on properties of metal hydrides belonging to different specific groups; ionic (alkaline and alkaline earth metals based hydrides), covalent (aluminum hydride, copper hydride), metallic (transition metals based hydrides, rare earth metals based hydrides) and hydrides of several intermetallic compounds is reported. Focus is put on EOS parameters and pressure induced transitions including change of crystal symmetry and/or segregation.
In this work it will be demonstrated that the excess energy created during mechanical alloying ( MA ) yielded alloying of couples with even possitive mixing enthalpy, As a result the new ternary CaMg2X ( X = V, Fe ) bcc alloy was successively synthesized by MA. It will be pointed out that the structural relation to the CaMg2 Laves phase with bcc-element was important issue to form the ternary bcc phase. In this work hydrogen solubility of the synthesized bcc alloy was determined in order to clarify the above issue on the structure and hydrogenation.
Hydrogen is a potential vector of energy for the future due to its ability to be stored and its advantage toward environment. It can be stored as a liquid, under pressure or in materials such as metal or complex hydrides, carbon or metal organic frameworks. In this paper a review of interesting ABn metal hydrides compounds for hydrogen storage application is presented.
We have shown previously that a left-handed curved DNA segment of 180 bp (T20) can activate eukaryotic transcription. Here, the local chromatin structure around the promoter was investigated in a HeLa cell line HLB10/T20 harboring the T20-containing reporter and in its control cell line HLB10 in which T20 was deleted from the same reporter locus. An analysis of translational positioning of nucleosomes indicated that the nucleosome density in the region spanning from about -500 to +200 relative to the transcription start site (+1) was lower in HLB10/T20 cells than in HLB10 cells. The results of the chromatin analyses also indicated that the histone core may slide within the T20 region, and the ability of T20 to capture and reposition histones may increase the accessibility of both the TATA box and other cis-DNA elements. These effects seem to be responsible for facilitation of transcription by T20.
The flow instability in a rectangular natural convection loop was investigated focusing on its displacement angle and the cooling water temperature.Unstable chaotic temperature oscillation with flow reversal has occurred in silicone oils KF96-1 & -2 as well as in water, but in the case of water (cooling water temperature Tc=30°C) the unstable state starts at the transitional region from laminar to turbulent, while in the case of silicone oils (Tc=20 & 30°C) it does after the laminar becomes turbulent. It has been found that on the effect of displacement angle θ0 the unstable state occurs in | θ0 | <2°, narrow relatively to in the case of a toroidal loop, and that on the effect of cooling water temperature, the lower it is, the narrower the region of unstable flow.
Fundamental experiments of multiple image recording were carried out for university students to understand the basic concept of the 3D image storage. We performed holographic image recording experiments using simple two beam interference. Multiple images recording of 2D and 3D were successfully performed.
