CRP/GRP laminated plates of the canapé construction was investigated on the flexural properties and the fracture behaviors. CRP/GRP laminated plates had two types (CRP-1-ply/GRP-15-plies and CRP-2-plies/GRP-13-plies) in which the ratio of the thickness of CRP to that of GRP was varied at the constant total thickness of the two types. And the structural merit of the canapé construction was discussed according to the flexural properties of the components, constituting CRP/GRP laminated plates. CRP/GRP laminated plates of two types did not vary in the flexural properties. However, it was observed that the fracture behaviors differ in the two types, that the canapé construction of CRP-1-ply showed the toughness, and that the other showed the brittleness. Comparing with the flexural properties of only GRP, the modulus of elasticity in bending of CRP/GRP laminated plates was improved 44∼61 percent, and the yield point and the flexural strength were also improved 43 percent and 15∼24 percent, respectively. Especially, the modulus of elasticity in bending and the yield point were exceedingly improved, therefore, these results showed the excellent effectiveness of the canapé construction.
