The Industry and Data/Contents Subcommittee has organized “DA Short Talk/Find the Seeds of industrialization of DA!” since May 2022. Looking back on them, I will first examine why industrialization and marketization of DA is necessary. Next, focusing on the “technological progress and diversification” identified in the industrialization map created by the Short Talk text analysis, I examined how AI and blockchain technologies could facilitate the marketization of DA. DA has potential for marketability as a learning material for AI. Also, I showed that these technologies have the potential to reduce the cost of building DAs and to facilitate their marketization through increasing the value of DAs.

The ukiyo-e series "The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido" depicts landscapes along the Nakasendo route from Tokyo to Kyoto. Both Japanese and international visitors explore these sites inspired by the ukiyo-e. Trading of ukiyo-e collections, exhibitions, events, and merchandise sales are actively conducted. This report details a regional revitalization project and marketization scheme focused on leveraging Blockchain Digital Archives (BDA) to preserve ukiyo-e depicting the Nakasendo, alongside contemporary landscapes and various relevant information. By managing these assets digitally for diverse applications, the initiative aims to stimulate the circulation of data, the exchange of people and culture, and economic activity, ultimately expanding the market within the involved regions.

Regarding the current state of data mining in publishing, looking back on the process of digitization in collaboration with printing houses, using the 20 volumes of Shogakukan's Complete Works of Japanese Art, 2012~16, as an example. I want to highlight the critical business situation that art books face and the obstacles to their e-book sales, and consider the possibility to operate their digital archives just completed, then build business plans. Compared to Europe and the U. S., which are more advanced in the respect of intellectual property law, it is still difficult to use works of Japanese art in publishing when the copyright protection has expired. As a solution, I propose restrictive provisions so that digital archives can become a part of the public interest.

This paper outlines the background, functions, and ongoing development of the AJC-CMS (All Japan CableTV Contents Management System), a cross-industry content distribution platform established by the Japan Cable Television Federation. Designed as a collaborative platform, AJC-CMS enables the nationwide distribution and effective utilization of regionally produced content, thereby improving content searchability and reliability, streamlining operations, and supporting monetization. The success of collaborative initiatives such as the “Cable Nippon Project,” which leverages AJC-CMS, along with the integration of AI technologies and automated translation, has opened new possibilities for promoting local attractions both nationally and globally. These developments also contribute to the creation of value through digital archiving.

The Industry and Data Content Subcommittee has been compiling presentation materials from the DA Short Talks held since 2022. Using text analysis techniques, the subcommittee has extracted key issues and discussion points, publishing the results on its website along with a two-dimensional map. Details of this initiative, including its structure and analytical methods, were reported in Volume 7, Issue 3 of this journal. However, due to the significant increase in data volume over the past two years, this special feature provides an updated summary at the end of this issue. Readers are encouraged to consult the website in conjunction with the previous report.
