The surface defects generated by EDM of cemented carbide give a harmful influence to prolongation of die life, The effect of surface defects on the transverse rupture strength was studied already, Evaluating the material strength, the fatigue strength is also important, In this paper, the relation is investigated between the fatigue strength of cemented carbide and the machining condition of EDM. Moreover, the fatigue life distribution is obtained from the statistical analysis, The results are as follows:
    (1) Cemented carbide machined by EDM clearly shows a fatigue behaviour and has a fatigue limit. It indicates a considerable decrease of fatigue limit comparing with that of the ground specimen.
    (2) The fatigue limit is shown by a curve with both minimum and maximum value as the pulse duration increases.
    (3) The fatigue life scatters largely and its distribution can be explained by Weibull's equation.

In order to realize EDM with high accuracy, several factors which affect to the error in EDM were taken into consideration.
The in-process measurements of the force and the displacement of the main axis, the displacement of the head, the average current and the average voltage have been done at the same time.
The time series of measured date mentioned above are investigated mutually, and the following results are obtained.
    (1) The main axis receives the force caused by the viscosity of dielectric fluid. This force becomes large in case of using the electrode with large area or in case of very small gap distance between the electrode and the work. The column is deformed by this force, and consequently machining accuracy becomes lower.
    (2) Machined error by the force above-mentioned are expected to decrease by the improvement of the control performance of main axis.
