This research refers to the wall covering generally used as architectural interior finishing materials. In order to attain the basic knowledge concerning the psychological structure and/or dimension of the evaluation people give to the wall covering, two series of psychological experiments were carried out. In the first experiment, the semantic differential method using 35 pairs of adjectives with 5 step-scales was adopted to evaluate 40 types of wall covering. As a result of the factor analysis, 6 factors were extracted ; "Evaluation", "Style", "Design", "Regularity", "Texture (tactile)" and "Texture(visual)". A second experiment using again the semantic differential method and 12 pairs of adjectives with 5 step-scales took place to 16 types of wall covering selected from the previous 40types. In this time, 4 complex factors were analyzed; "Evaluation + Texture (tactile)", "Regularity + Style", "Design" and "Texture(visual)". 40 or 16 samples of wall covering were located and well classified in the factorial space.
