    Dermal exposure to cypermethrin for applicators was investigated in eggplant fields managed by V and U-shapedtraining. The pesticide was sprayed forward and back on the one side of the furrow, and was sprayed back on the both side.
    1) At spraying forward, the exposure in the field by U-shapedtraining was lower on most parts of the body than that by V-shapedtraining. The result came from by less stems and leaves, which caused second contamination during spaying.
    2) At spraying back, the exposure indicated the similar tendency. However the exposure at spraying back was clearly lower than that at spraying forward.
    3) At spraying back on the both side, the exposure decreased more further than that at spraying back on the one side. This method is very effective to decrease the exposure although the control of a spray pole is a little complex.

    A simulation program was developed to investigate a relationship between machine cost and working hours.
    In general, machine cost and working hours oppose. When a farming group introduces machines, appropriate machines should be selected, considering machine cost and working hours. But there are many combinations of machine types to be considered.
    This program provides indexes for machine selection. For each combination of machine types, the program calculates relationship between machine cost and working hours for each crop as well as for total cropping system. Because some machines are generally used for several crop management.
    To calculate machine cost for each crop, a department charge rate method was introduced, by which method the cost of one machine is divided into several crops that need the machine. By summing up divided costs, machine cost for each crop is calculated.
    The simulation must be adaptable to various situations. An actual farming group, which operates large size fields in Kyoto prefecture, is chosen as a model of simulation. Surveys on an actual field were conducted to get data for this simulation. These data make the simulation more suitable to this farming group.
    The simulation program outputs the results as text file format. Graphs which indicate the change of machine cost and working hours according to the combinations were obtained. These graphs could be used for appropriate selection of machines.
    We are planning to run more surveys and to get data in order to execute more precise simulation.

    Study was conducted to test an effect of microorganism which was mainly composed Trichoderma sp to prevent White root rot in the University farm from 1991 to 1994. Japanese pear ‘Shinko’ trees were classified no infected and infected White root rot by observing and judging roots digged out from soil. No infected and infected tree ‘Shinko’ were used.
    Results as follows:
    1. Continuity application of microorganism soil conditioner gave vigorous root growth on no infected trees. Soil conditioner stimulated the growth of trees and a lots of shoot was became moderate and long shoots. Continuity application of soil conditioner gave effects to increase very large fruits, which were more than 451g weight.
    2. By using soil conditioner to infected trees, trees became vigorous even after two years of treatment.
    3. After three years of treatment white root rot were found at middlesize of root in infected trees. But next year no extend of infection was found.
    It is concluded that the annual treatment of microorganism soil conditioner is shown the material which have high function on preventing White root rot. The soil conditioner give vigorous to Japanese pear tree, especially to roots and shoots.
