This research was undertaken for the purpose of the introduction of a tentative behaviouristic analysis plan for measuring social attitudes of the day- and night- shift workers. The emotional and volitional behaviours were understood to be potential functions of recognized behaviour and memorized behaviour communicated through external surroundings, as regards the general idea of the research, and a dependent variable of those psychological dimensions was selected and found in ?gLife tempo, ?h ?gTime language, " "Life consciousness, " and "(time) sustaining valuation, " according to the order of the above-mentioned behaviours. As a result, the substance of the respective measurements made has been taken to be as follows. 1) "Life consciousness" consists of a total of 120 elements of 20 items of detail of 4 headings concerning property system-social system-cultural system-environmental limits. 2) "Life tempo?h consists of a total of 120 elements of 20 items of detail of 4 headings concerning perceptual motility-intelligence-emotionality-social cooperation. 3) "Time language" consists of a total 2 8 elements of 17 items of detail of 4 headings concerning time expectation-decision of ranking-decision on corresponding eventsdemand of behaviour. 4) "(time) sustaining valuation" consists of a total of 3 2 elements of 16 items detail of 4 hadings concerning efficiency of stimulus number-systematic efficiency-ranking efficiency-recording efficiency. 1), 2), and 3) above were researched by questionnaire, 4) by experiment.
Food composition table (published in 1883) was edited by Hayata and Yamaguchi under the supervision of Kango Shimada in the early days of Meiji era. They advdcated that the purposes of publishing this table were to recognize the nature of foods and to avoid suffering from diseases. This table contained 75 pages and the number of foods were 90. Though the items of analysis were water, minerals, lipids, protein, cellulose, starch, carbohydrates, nitrogen and so on, the description of energy and the methods of analysis were not shown. Although it was presumably one of the earliest food composition tables analyzing familiar foods in our daily life without foreigner's assistance in Japan, no one has ever referred to the existence of this table in our history of nurtition.
The authors analyzed the result of a food-consumption survey, executed in Hirao-cho, Yamaguchi prefecture, and then classified into several groups to do the nutritional education in the communities. The results are followings: (1) The similarities between six groups in the town were shown with Deviation Pattern Similarity (DPS). (2) Applying the cluster analysis to the DPS matrix, three clusters were found out; that is, group A, B, and C. (3) Each cluster has its own life style and different environment. Concerning the food consumption, group C shows so-called conservative pattern ; group B consumed not so much amount of rice and seemed to orient toward non-conservative dietary style; and group A has intermediate pattern. (4) Community nutrition activity needs the methodology to get the characteristics of the local groups. These procedure is one of the effective approaches to promote the activities.
