    As the first step to establish the transportation system for cultivation trays on the ground, tractive resistance in various moving conditions was measured. The cultivation tray weight were changed from 0.57 to 1.20 kN and the effects of castor type and number, tractive velocity, ground surface type were considered. In every moving condition, the tractive resistance increased lineally with the increase of the cultivation tray weight. The ratio of the tractive resistance against the tray weight ranged 5 to 6 percent for the wheel castor and 5 to 13 percent for the ball castor. The increase of the tractive resistance was thought to be caused by the influence of the sliding friction between castor and the ground surface. The tractive resistance was not influenced by the tractive speed. For the wheel castor, the number of the castors has no influence on tractive resistance, while for the ball castor the tractive resistance showed larger with the lower number of castors.
    The tractive resistance showed the maximum value at the starting point of the trays, being about 1.3-1.7 times larger than the mean tractive resistance.

    Early growth in kaiware radish was investigated in distilled water and city water treated by irradiation of ultrasonic wave and in distilled water of various pH adjusted by sodium carbonate. The results are as follows : 1) The germination of kaiware radish occurred efficiently under pH 5. 6-6. 7 and the growth in height was high under pH 6. 2-6. 7 and 8. 2) Kaiware radish germinated efficiently in distilled water showing half-peak width of ca 120 Hz in the 17O-NMR spectra. 3) Irradiation of ultrasonic wave was effective for both the germination and the growth in height in kaiware radish.

    Micropropagation of Brassica campestris in vitro was studied by the laboratory procedure. Namely, multiple shoots were induced by culturing excised shoots from seedlings in modified Murashige and Skoog medium containing 50 μM BAP, 3% sucrose, and 0.8% agar. Multiple shoots were also successively induced from excised lateral shoots cultured in medium containing BAP 50 μM and IBA 1 μM at20 day intervals in vitro. Shoots multiplied about three times every 20 days. When excised single shoots 2-4 cm in length were cultured in Modified Murashige and Skoog's medium or Otsuka hydroponic culture nutrient containing 3% sucrose and 0. 8% agar, at least 90% shoots rooted in vitro. Planting-out of regenerated plants were successfully achieved via acclimation in vermiculite beds containing Otsuka hydroponic culture nutrient for 8 days. At least ninety % of regenerants were successfully planted out.
    Production cost of in vitro plants at 10, 000 level production was calculated to be 101. 3 yen each. Refinement of production procedure by simulation of production cost was discussed.

    An irrigation mobile robot was developed and tested for saving labor and automatic soil water control.
    The robot was consisted of a running unit, a control unit and an irrigation unit. Soil moisture was measured by the electrical resistance sensor which was attached to the mobile arm with irrigation nozzle. The infrared reflectors which were recognized by the infrared sensors of the robot indicated the measurable and irrigable positions of individual plants. The robot was programmed to repeat following operations :
    1. Move the robot to the position of the infrared reflector;
    2. Insert the soil moisture sensor into the soil, and measure the soil moisture;
    3. If the measurement value of the soil moisture was less than the value of satisfied soil moisture, then irrigate the soil.
    The result of performance tests showed that the robot could control the soil moisture near by individual plants automatically. It was estimated that 4 sets of the robot could control the soil moisture in greenhouse muskmelon cultivation having 1000 m2 floor area.

    New types of the continuous chaos are found for coupled nonlinear differential equations which may be a model of two bodies interacting with each other through a feedback memory effect. This system may produce several new Chaoses under certain conditions, and some of which are graphically shown.

    This research examined the effects of Ca-artificial zeolite and nutrient solution on the growth of seedling time of muskmelons. The Ca-artificial zeolite was obtained from industrial waste, called coal ash. Various nutrient solutions were prepared according to the concentration of Ca-artificial zeolite the, i. e. Ca-zeolite 50 g, 100 g, 200 g, or 300 g in 12 liter of the solution.
    The results of this research show that fresh weight, plant height and root length of muskmelons cultivated with of 50 g and 100 g Ca-artificial zeolite in 12 liter of solution were greater than those of others. On the other hand it can be depicted that the pH of nutrient solution became stable by adding the Ca-artificial zeolite. The cultivation with 200 g and 300 g of Ca-zeolite in 12 liter of solution resulted in a restriction on the growth of muskmelons. The optimum amount of Ca-artificial zeolite was 50 g and 100 g in 12 liter of solution. Mixing Ca-artificial zeolite with nutrient solution can greatest weak point that can not find in hydroponics, improve the weakness of buffer action for the solution, showing that the zeolite is promising as one of important materials in hydroponics.

    We developed newly designed full-automated measuring system, which records three dimensional rhythmic motions of two plant organs (roots, leaves, stems, and petals) simultaneously every l [min], by using image processing technology. This system can also measure under some condition, for example, changing light condition periodically, setting an obstacle in front of a stem or roots, stimulating sound sonic wave, and so on. And we designed a new software which enables us to remote-control the system by using the telephone line. In addition, we performed a few experiments with a new system. As a result, we succeeded in observing rhythmic motions of two roots and rhythmic motions of two leaves for a long time by using this system.
