Low power output laser is applied in the treatment of pain and paralysis with the expectation of some reaction in living such as the improvement of peripheral circulatory disturbances and anagenesis. In this paper, the usefulness of the treatment withthe low power Nd: YAG laser irradiation is examined in 25 cases with peripheral facial palsy. The irradiation output of the low power Nd: YAG laser device was set at 300mW. The irradiation was given to the disturbed side of the stellate ganglion and the stylomastoid foramen for 10-15 minutes per exposure and 1-2 times a week. As for the effectiveness of the treatment, 9cases (35.0%) were assessed as markedly effective, 13 (52.0%) as effective, and 3 (12.0%) as ineffective; the over all effective rate was 88.0%. Since the low power Nd: YAG laser treatment was simpler than the stellate ganglion block and non-invasive,it is expected to be used widely in the future.

We have developed an Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) system pumped by Q-switched YAG laser as a light source for photodynamic therapy (PDT).
This YAG-OPO Laser system consists of a laser system, an operating stand, a chiller and an optical fiber.
The laser emits high peak powered light beam between 620-670nm and the beam can be irradiated to the tumor by various fiber chips.
This system has some functions of power stabilizing, wavelength stabilizing and fiber calibration etc. All operations can be done easily at the operating stand equipped with a colored Liquid crystal display (LCD).
Furthermore, the function of photo coagulation for YAG laser can be added as an option.
The treatment results with mice was effective, and we have begun the clinical tests with YAG-OPO Laser in May 1995.

Recent advances in fiberoptic technology have enabled us to observe the luminal changes of cardiovascular system. We can obtain the macroscopic pathological information of the lesions by angioscopy. Angioscopic observation reveals the thrombus and the surface changes of the cardiac chambers and the valves. It also visualizes vascular changes such as plaques, thrombi and intimal flaps in the great, peripheral and coronary vessels. Furthermore we can evaluate the indication and efficacy of the angioplasty by angioscopy more precisely than angiography alone. Simultaneous observation by angioscopy and intravascular ultrasound imaging gives us much more information on the cardiovascular changes.
