Tests of transmission of motion by belt were made by using the testing apparatus designed by the authors. From the results the following may be mentioned : -The leather and cotton belts are different in their elastic properties, one from the other. The time effect on the elongation and and contraction is considerable. The slip of belt is influenced by its elasticity, coefficient of friction, running speed and initial tension. The slip is composed of elastic and sliding slips, the former being proportional to the force transmitted and the latter growing rapidly for leather belt when the force transmitted exceeds a certain limit. The cotton belt runs off suddenly from pulley surface without revealing any sliding sip. The variation of tension during the transmission is affected by humidity and elasticity of the belt.

Pressure tests on electric welded steel pipes were made, the axial force due to the water pressure being avoided, and the displacements at different points were measured to find the deformation and the yielding pressure of the pipes. From the test results it may be concluded that the electric welded seam stands more strongly against the statical internal pressure than the riveted one.
