Chromosome handling using a nano-wire-frame tool is introduced. The tool, which is about 10nm in diameter, is fabricated in carbon deposition process assisted by electron beam, and can be three-dimensionally constructed when a glass needle of substrate is rotated. A single DNA was extracted from a chromosome under surface acoustic wave vibration, and was cut at a desired position with the tool. The another single DNA was pulled from a nuclei with the tool, and was extracted to a two helical chain structure.

A wearable intelligent machine, Skil Mate, is a new concept that can assist skilled workers in power as well as in skill. Skil Mate is composed of servo mechanisms and haptic devices (tactile sensors/displays), so that it can follow the workers movement. Skil Mate is suitable for work under hazardous environments such as in space, under sea, etc. Goal of the research project is to develop a prototype model of Skil Mate for a spacesuit, especially an upper limb including a glove for hands where astronauts feel most fatigued in EVA.
