This investigation deals with the ion collecting probe method for the electron density of the steady-state argon plasma (1.0 mmHg) in magnetic field. The probe method is checked with microwave transmission method (34 × 10
10c/s) which does not suffer from the effect of magnetic field.
At magnetic field intensities ranged from zero to 30, 000 gauss, however, the both densities agree fairly well, if density with probe measuerment were calculated assuming that the electric field of probe does not penetrate into the plasma and tat the drift velocity of ion in probe sheath depend on (E/p
