Dense plasma was produced behind the reflected shock wave in argon and xenon gases in an arc driven shock tube. The pressure reached 300 atm and the electron number density exceeded 10
19 /cc for xenon plasma. The measured temperatures were on the order of 10
4 K. The plasma parameter varies from 1.4 to 9 in this experiment, where ε= (n
e λ
D3)
-1 and λD is the Debye length. The electrical conductivity is measured by RF-coil method which is described in detail. When E is smaller than two, experimental value of the electrical conductivity is larger than or equal to the Spitzer's theoretical value. However, it is smaller than the theoretical value when εincreaes. The deviation between theory and and experimennt has a tendency to increase with incraase in ε.
