Utilization of magnetically guided liquid lithium flow was proposed in SENRI-I, Inertial Confinement Fusion Reactor Design of Osaka University. In the present article, experimental studies are described to ascertain the feasibility of a concept of magnetic guide of liquid metal to form an ICF reactor cavity. Major item is control of current-carrying Hg flow in the static magnetic field. Discussions on MHD stability of a magnetically guided liquid metal flow are also described.
