ジャーナル フリーThe points of this report based on the survey of Traditional Japanese private houses are to elucidate the mechanism of regeneration of them, and to study the interrelation between Traditionl Japanese private houses and furniture or other implements as a mechanism of regeneration ・ Traditionl Japanese private houses have continued to exist having corresponded to changes of the way of life ・ One room is a non-functional space, and then it will become to have its function of putting implements in it. ジャーナル フリーThis paper is concerned with the factors which may influence upon the mode of Living in houses built by Japan Housing Corporation in Tokyo area. The mode of living, here, means two ways of sitting, "directly on the floor" and "on a chair (or bed)" in case of eating, resting and sleeping. For the research, 63 families in the above mentiond houses have been investigated twice in 1962 and 1973, and analyzed with a hypothetical model for the mode of living. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. Factors which provide sitting directly on the floor in case of eating, resting and sleeping, 1) Decreasing of living furniture 2) Decreasing of living area per man 3) Decreasing of number of room per man 4) Floor of 'Tatami' 5) By using 'Kotatsu' 2. ジャーナル フリーThis study is not only aimed to a product design concept, but also it intends to clarify the design concept in order to realize better industrialization under the design concept of commercialization. For this purpose, it is quite essential to call for a thorough recognition of what systematized production methods and design should be. Above all, at present, under the name of an alternative society in its high degree and in excess of emphasizing variety of demands as well as indivisualising of person, the designs are forced to apply for variety and thereby the industrial activity has regrettably been limited to such extent. The fundamental pattern to increase better industrial efficiency is "tree system". Accordingly, it is desirable to promote systematization of whole industries in line with the pattern, and therefore, the design for prefabricated products must be thought for "tree system". Essencially, ID must be "gestaltung" to fit the structural pattern of production into industrialization. Firstly, it should be by considered knowing products as the following circulation: material - processing -預ssembly - formation - disassembly - resourses - regenerated material Secondly, industry itself should have its own rules that make it exist reasonably. There exist the reasonable ways of products planning and production method which would meet the scope of industrialization and the scope of the enterprise, whether major or minor, for the realization of smooth and better industrialization. So that, it always appears as a social production ability of the capital when it connects together with all other division labors under the capital. Why so ? because, they are constracted on the assumption that is national economy.In other words. they are connected with commodity form that is stipulated inthe special society. Inthat place-, they do not care about commodity form it self, Accordingly, they lose the sight of this simple fact that has riddle in commodites and mistery in modern design. lf,we want to tide over modern design,we tide over commodites. Becouse, the theory that is constructed by commodites, and the human's totality will never coincide with each other. This New-Folk craft theory, that I advocate,has something in common on Folk craft, that is advocated by Muneyoshi Yanagi. It is that we take back the subject on design.But,it is different from Folk craft, that is constructed on modern situation. Therefore, modern situation has been different greatly from previous one.
