Bruno Taut's works and thoughts of design were provocative of many difficulties, for exemple, why Taut's researches into the spatial construction of architecture abruptly vanished after the Glashaus, and why both of Taut's contradictory thoughts of the Glashaus, and of the housing estate were realized parallel in the same year, 1914, notwithstanding these are understood antagonistic each other, and so on. These questions are investigated from the view points of the space construction of modern design, and of the garden city movement. Both of these are traced in the early works of Bruno Taut, and it becomes clear that the mediation of the antagonistic thoughts are given in the space sense of the community sentiment, socalled social thought, which he found out in the experience of the Falkenberg Siedlung, and in the circumstance of the incarnation of social thought, given the meanings and reasons of the realization of the Glashaus.
