This study attempts to clarify the structural aspects of anxiety and anxiety-reducing factors of welfare service facilities staff handling individuals with disabilities who are suspects or defendants in court cases. This qualitative study was conducted by using an interview as its survey method and qualitative coding as its analysis method. The results identified two types of anxieties among the staff:“not feeling qualified or confident in their skills to do the work” and “anxieties related to the social relations of people with disabilities who are also suspects or defendants in court cases.” The anxiety-reducing factors were “information collection and evaluation to help understand people better” and “authentication and establishment of collaboration and support systems.”

This paper investigates factors that make it difficult to acquire additional fees in the long-term care fees system for home help services. In a recent long-term care fees revision, a new item on the additional fees has been added year by year. This addition has played an important role in evaluating the long-term care fees system. However, in previous studies, it has been pointed out that while an evaluation of the additional fees adequately functions in the care fees system for facility services, it does not function so well in the system for home help services. In this study, we examine the items of additional fees, such as the requirements of acquirement and the rates of acquirement, for home help services. To complete such study, we use day services in comparison with home help services, as day services are also classified as in-home services and they have similar features to the care fees system for facility services. The results of the analysis showed some of the factors that make additional fees for home help services difficult to acquire. These factors include the limitation on the additional fees that can be acquired and the comprehensiveness of the requirements of acquirement.

The study aimed to identify effective measures to prevent the mistreatment of elderly individuals by nursing care facility workers. A survey was conducted by distributing questionnaire sheets to 5,307 caregiving staff members who worked at intensive care homes for the elderly, group homes for older adults with dementia, and fee-based homes for the elderly in Prefecture A. The answers from individuals with missing data were excluded. The remaining answers given by 2,149 individuals were regarded as valid. Factor analysis and logistic regression analysis were used for reviewing the data. The results showed that factors that had a significant impact varied based on the type of mistreatment and facility. In intensive care homes for the elderly, preventive measures related to the workplace, such as “workplace measures to deal with mistreatment,” showed significant effects. However, the type of mistreatment prevention measures and “attributes and characteristics of staff members” showed a preventive effect regardless of the nature of facility. In order to work on these factors, taking measures to prevent abuse and mistreatment throughout the workplace, including efforts regarding “attributes and characteristics of staff members,” may be necessary.

The present study examined the structure of the elements of difficulties in supporting solitary aged persons by care managers. Data were collected from self-administered questionnaires mailed to participants at 2,500 care management centers and comprehensive community support centers in Osaka Prefecture. The survey was conducted from January 30 to February 25, 2019. The statistical analysis used in this study was exploratory factor analysis. As a result of the factor analysis, six factors were identified: “difficulties in grasping the holistic daily life and needs of service users”; “difficulties in the arrangement of support resources with the deficiency of informal support”; “difficulties in collaborations among care managers and other professions and key persons”; “difficulties in intervening service users by care managers and the other professions”; “difficulties in the agreement of care plan and implementation between service users and care managers”; and “difficulties in refusing care services by service users.”

The purpose of this paper is to clarify an entry situation of new human resources for home help services and to point out the issues on the securing human resources for home help services in the future. The training system for long-term care workers has been integrated into the initial training seminar for long-term care work since 2013. Therefore, this seminar is a substantial entry route for those who intend to work for long-term care work. However, the study on the learning status has not been sufficiently accumulated. Based on this, we conducted a questionnaire survey for the participants of the seminars. In this survey, we asked them what type of care service and form of employment they would like after the seminar, as well as what their purpose was for taking the seminar. Moreover, we conducted a cross-tabulation and an χ² test to clarify the relationship between these questions and their essential attributes. From the results of the analysis, it was clear that more people prefer to work for facility services than for home help services. Furthermore, we found that the new human resource of the services tends to be limited only to the elderly.
