Electrocardiograms (ECGs) were recorded from 81 clinically healthy beagle dogs of both sexes, 10 to 11 months old, by apex-base bipolar lead in order to obtain background data for a general toxicity study. The result obtained are as follows :
    1. Respiratory sinus arrhythmia, which seemed to be a usual rhythm pattern, was observed in almost all the dogs, a few of which were affected with sinus tachycardia. It was probably induced by the difference in sensitivity among dogs to the circumstance of recording.
    2. The standard figure of ECG consisted of positive P-wave, Rs type of QRS-complex, and positive T-wave. Biphasic T-waves, however, as well as some types of variation in the QRS-complex, were observed in a few dogs. In almost all the dogs ST-segments slightly deviated from the baseline. It was not determined whether these variations from the standard figure of ECG were normal or not in the present study.
    3. No differences were seen in the conduction time and the amplitude of P, R, and T-waves in each deflection between the results of the present study and those reported by previous researchers. There seemed to be a carretation between the difference in the amplitude of the S-wave and that in the strain of beagle dogs.

To analyse the cardiac function of the Japanese domestic cat, several cardiac parameters were measured from arterial and intracardiac pressures in 34 adult cats. Under anesthesia with ketamine hydrochloride, catheters were inserted into the left and right ventricle and pulmonary artery. When stabilized in valve, leftventricular pressure (LVP), aortic pressure (PA), pulmonary arterial pressure (PPA), and right ventricular pressure (RAP) were measured to analyse the cardiac performance. All of them were analysed with a signal processor to get every cardiac parameter. The results obtained are as follows.

Primary pulmonary hypertension which had not been reported previously in cattle was observed in a Japanese black calf.
Cardiac catheterization at 4 days of age revealed markedly elevated right ventricular and pulmonary arterial pressures. The calf was necropsied at 9 days of age. Histologically, medial hypertrophy in the small pulmonary arteries was observed in the greater part of the lung. Moreover, some arteries showed obstruction or dilatation.

When a two-month-old Shiba dog weighing 1.8 kg was inoculated with vaccine, a systolic murmur of grade 4/6 was heard with the strongest point on the right edge of the sternum between the fourth and fifth rib at the time of inoculation. The results of various clinical examinations made it possible to make a diagnosis of the ventricular septal defect with a left-to-right shunt of moderate severity in the dog. A radical operation was performed on the dog, which died eventually. Autopsy findings were reported, as well as the results of the clinical examinations, on this dog,
