Many abnormal findings are shown in the survey of the electrocardiogram (ECG) of dogs. In order to examine these abnormalities and to acertain the frequency of them, ECG were recorded in 100 dogs (male 52, female 48), adult and mongrel, sampled randomly. Further they were performed phonocardiogram (PCG), hematology, liver function test and urinalysis, and then the authors discussed a few problems about the findings centering around ECG.
1. ECG findings : ECG revealed abnormalities in 53 of 100 dogs (Fig.1) . And 20 showed more than two different kinds of abnormalities. There were such electrocardiographic abnormal findings in relatively large numbers as first degree atrio-ventricular block (22%), heart injury (13%) and left ventricular dilatation (11%) (Table 1).
2. PCG findings : PCG were abnormal in 21 of 100 dogs, and of 53 cases with abnormal ECG, 15 (28.3%) were also abnormal on PCG. (Fig. 10). Most of 18 cases which showed systolic murmur were observed abnormalities on ECG.
3. Hematology, liver function test and urinalysis : In examinations of blood, liver function and urea, abnormal findings were recognized in approximately 50% of cases respectively. Of 53 clogs with abnormal ECG, approximately 50% of them had anything abnormal in each examination respectively (Fig. 10). Though it is doubts that electrocardiographic abnormalities correlates with abnormal findings in the three examinations.
