    A survey was conducted on 27 cattle infected clinically with coccidiosis to clarify the state of occurrence and climatic conditions at the time of outbreak. It was found out that the concurrent infection with some other species of internal parasites, in relation to nutrition, played an important role in the induction of clinical infection among cattle involved in latent infection with coccidia. It has been understood that bovine coccidiosis will be so significant a disease, as the scale of animal husbandry on each farm is enhanced year by year.

    条虫寄生山羊にBithionol-s-oxideを用いてその効果と副作用の有無をBithionolと比較供試した結果, 両者を山羊体重1kgあたり110mgの投与によってBithionol-s-oxideは80%, Bithionolは100%の陰転率を示しBithionolがBithionol-s-oxideよりも駆虫効力がややまさっている.
    副作用については両者とも一過性の下痢を伴なうがBithionol-s-oxideがBithionolよりも下痢の時間の短いだけ副作用の点でややまさっている.
    以上を要約するとBithionol-s-oxideは今後山羊条虫に対して適正な使用方法を得るならば副作用の安定さとすぐれた効果が期待出来るものと考えられる.

    Recently, observation was made on some chickens which belonged to a group of birds showing normal rates of laying eggs with regular hatchability and manifesting no abnormal clinical signs, and which gave positive rapid agglutination reactions, although no organisms of Salmonella pullorum had been isolated from them. Then, investigation was carried out on them to clarify the presence of any antigen in them. It was the final purposes of the present study to eliminate such nonspecific reaction and make a more accurate diagnosis.
    1. Antigen was prepared from the 9-25 strain of Sal. pullorum. The organisms of this strain were suspended in buffer saline solution containing 0.5 per cent of phenol and 0.1 per cent of malachite green, so that a turbidity of ×100 of MacFarland tube 2 might be produced. Then they were heated at 80°C for 15 to 30 minutes.
    2. In the field, the heated antigen of Sal. pullorum was compared with the commercial antigen in rapid agglutination tests on 119 diseased chickens from which Sal. pullorum had been isolated, and 187 chickens showing nonspecific reactions. As a result, the heated antigen gave rise to reactions not so different from those given by the commercial antigen when the sera of the diseased chickens were examined.
    3. Of 2, 640 birds collected from 31 poultry farms and showing nonspecific reactions, 892 (34%) gave positive agglutination tests with the commercial antigen. On the other hand, 39 (1.7%) showed positive agglutination tests with the heated antigen. None of them, however, reacted within 30 seconds. In this procedure, the positive rate of nonspecific reaction against the heated antigen was quite different from that against the commercial antigen among the chickens which had manifested nonspecific reactions.

    Tween 80 was investigated for growth-stimulatingef fect upon Mycobacterium johnei. Modified Ogawa's medium containing the bacillary bodies of M. phlei was used. The growth of M. johnei (two pathogenicstrains) was evidently stimulated by Tween 80 at the concentration of 0.5 percent. These results agreed with the previous findings obtained with dysgonic bovine tubercle bacilli. Comparative examination of this and Smith's media revealed that colonies appeared early in Smith's medium, but that no detectable difference was present in growth after two months' incubation between the two media.
    Tween 20, 40, 60, and 80 were examined for growthstimulating effect for M. johnei at the concentration of 0.5 percent. Tween 20 and 40 were less effective than Tween 60 and 80.
    The growth of M. johnei decreased evidently when M. phlei was added to the medium at the rate of 0.25 percent. No detectable effect was observed when the concentration of glycerin added was decreased to 0.5 percent.

    あひるコクシジウム症より分離したOocystを用いて発育環の観察を行ないつぎのような知見をえた.
    (1) 胞子形成期間は25℃3日で, 成熟Oocystはmimicropyleを有し大きさは17~21μ (平均18.62±1.44) ×13~15μ (平均13.21±0.47) で, Oocystの再生白数は4日目であった.
    (2) Schizogonyは, 24時間後には幼若のschizontを48時間後には成熟schizontを認め, 弓状のmerozoiteと円形の残体を中心にして放射状に付着しているmerozoiteと2つの型を認めた. なお, Schizogonyの期間は短く1代だけと推定された.
    (3) Gametogonyは, 72時間後にはmacro-gametocyteを, 96時間後にはmicro-gametocyteを認めた. microgametocyteの形態はきわめて特徴的で, micro-gameteは紡錘形または柳葉状で大きさは5~9μ×0.5~1.0μであった.
    (4) 寄生部位は, 十二指腸より盲腸にいたる広範な寄生がみられた.
