In studies on the experimental production of bracken poisoning cattle, the authors were observed influence of pH, nitrite reduction time and protozoa of rumen juice. Bracken poisoning were produced on two calves by feeding powder of dried bracken root. The resultas obtained are as follows.
1. The two calves presented mark d symptons of bracken poisoning over a period from 50th to 60th day, which died on the 69th and 72nd after the experimental feeding.
2. Althougt rumen pH showed a slight alkali in temporary period of the experimental course, whicn run down rumen acidosis with the both animals in the terminal stage.
3. Nitrite reduction time showed a tendency to prolong in accordance with feeding. In the terminal stage, reduction time has been prolonged three times than one of before feeding.
4. Numbers of protozoa on indicated uniform changes in accordance with the course of experimental feeding, but it showed marked decrease in just before deateh.
5. In classification of protozoa, the both cases parasitized a only Entodinium genus (simplex, nanellum, minimum) before the experiment. After experimental feeding, simplex decreased gradwally and other species showed gragual decrease wiith the both animals. In No.1 calf, protozoa could not classification becouse of its did out in just before death.
It seems likely that the numbers of protozoa in No.2 varied in parallel with changizee of rumen pH and nitrite reduction time, but No.1 did not recognized the same tendency as No.2 showed after feeding.
