Yeasts were isolated from 18 (11.3%) of 158 quarters with clinical mastitis and 14 (12.7%) of 110 quarters with subclinical mastitis. Three genera; 5 species and 18 strains (C. krusei, D. hansenii, etc.) were isolated from the former 18 quarters. Their count level was 10-1.4×104 per ml. Three genera, 5 species and 14 strains (C. tropicalis, C. rugosa, ect.) were isolated from the latter 14 quarters. Their count level was 10-7.2×103 per ml. Yeasts were isolated with Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. from clinical mastitis, but not from subclinical mastitis. The isolated Yeasts were quite sensitive to Clotrimazole in Vitro.

A total of 278 dogs were given orally with 0.025 to 1.0mg/kg of milbemycin D.Of them, 124 were infected with round worms, 79 with hook worms, and 75 with whip worms. Then 188 dogs were examined coprologically from 7 to 37 days after treatment.Of them, 90 were killed 7 days after treatment and examined for resident worms.
Of 62 dogs infected with round worms, 58 (0.1mg/kg) became free from these worms.Of 32 dogs infected with hook worms, 29 (0.025mg/kg) became free.Of the 75 dogs infected with whip worms, 60 (1.0mg/kg) became free.No side effects were observed in any dogs.

An 8-month-old male Labrador retriever weighing 24 kg was submitted with anorexia and refusal of walking as chief complaints. Anemia of unknown origin was detected and a symptomatic treatment was carried out. Since PCV value was reduced from 20% to 14% at 8 days of treatment, blood was transfused. From the blood examination, babesiosis was diagnosed in this dog.
When babesiosis recurred to the dog, 4, 4, -diazoaminodibenzamidine diaceturate (Ganaseg) was used mainly for the treatment, as well as blood transfusion, which was performed 13 times with the blood from five donors. Adverse effects were noticed when transfusion was conducted 8-10 times again with the blood from donor A. Tachypnea, salivation, emesis, depression, and hemoglobinuria were observed. The blood typing test was carried out to reveal a miss-match of DEA 1.1 in the patient and donor. The antibody produced in the patient serum was identified to be anti DEA-1.1, 2. After that, blood was transfused in good matching and displayed a satisfactory therapeutic effect with no adverse effects.

A three-year-old female domestic short-haired cat was presented with dyspnea and dysbasia. A diagnosis of intracerebral cryptococcosis was made in it.
A focus located in the area of the right anterior cerebral artery was revealed by brain angiography. It consisted of gray white mass and removed surgically. Yeast cells with a capsule were detected in mycological and histopathological examinations.
At first, amphotericin B (1 mg/kg) was administered intravenously every three days. The cat recovered clinically. Serum agglutination titer for cryptococcal antigen, however, was still high after 14 injections. Then treatment was donewith a combin ation of amphotericin B (0.5mg/kg, i. v., every other day) and 5-fluorocytosin (94 mg/kg, p.o., every day) for one month. The titer became almost negative after ten months.

Pack culture was prepared as follows. An agar plate with microaerophilic bacteria was put in a polyethylene bag, from wihch the air was removed by an aspirator. Then, the bag was filled with 10% carbon dioxide gas and sealed with a polysealer. It was kept within the incubator. By this method 24 species of pathogenic bacteria have been isolated at the authors' laboratory since 1979.
Dry stock was performed by stamp's gelatin disc method modified in the following manner. Drops of a condensed bacterial suspension were instilled on a thin polyethlene film, instead of a paraffin film. When that film was dried in a desiccator, the disc was liberated easily. Bacteria could be stored for a long period when the disc was kept within a sealed small polyethylene beg at 5°C. A total of 351 strains of 31 bacterial species isolated at the authors' laboratory were stored by this method for 1 to 5 years.

Ten cows with 25 quarters affected with chronic mastitis were orally given with a dose of 7.5 mg/kg of levamisole. Ten cows with 28 mastitic quarters were orally given with lactose as placebo dissolved in water. Nine healthy cows served as noninfected, nonmedicated controls. When examined 21 days later, the efficacy of the treatment was “excellent” or “good” in 72% of the 25 quarters of the levamisole-treated cows. Only one of the affected quarters was clinically recovered in the placebo-treated group.
The blast transformation of lymphocytes was examined 0, 3, 5, 7, 14 and 21 days after treatment. It was enhanced significantly 5 days after treatment. It was not enhanced in the placebo-treated or noninfected, nonmedicated cows.

A disease of pigs associated with a serious locomotive disturbance of the hind limbs broke out collectively on a farm over a period from Feburary to April. Pathological examination revealed necrosis in the epiphyseal cartilage of the femur and epiphysiolysis of the femoral hesd.
Radiographs demonstrated a decrese in density of a large area involved in pathological changes. The serum levels of Ca, P and alkaline phosphatase were normal. From these findings this disease was diagnosed as osteochondrosis.

In 1981, 89 goats produced in Nagano Perfecture and shipped for exportation were held under quarantine. One of them was positive for the intradermal tuberchin test and sacrificed for autopsy. A grayish white nodule of millet size was found almost at the center of the diaphragmatic lobe of each lung. It contained a necrotic focus. Atypical acid-fast bacteria were isolated from the lung and hilar lymph node. They were photochromogens and finally identified as Mycobactrium kansasii.

Renal carcinoma of the clear cell type was found in a 4-year-old Landrace sow. It was produced in the right kidney and metastasized to the lungs, heart, left kidney, liver, ovaries, pulmonary and hepatic lymph nodes, and serosal surfaces of the pleural and peritoneal cavities. Microscopy revealed solid nests and occasional tubular structures consisting of neoplastic cells with faintly stained cytoplasm and eccentrically located nuclei.

A Siamese female cat 2.5 years old weighing about 4 kg was submitted with lameness as chief complaints. Radiological examination revealed a relatively homogeneous shadow on the medial side of a proximal part of the right tibia. A tumor weighing 17g was removed surgically from this part. It was demonstrated to be osteochondroma showing a remarkable tumorigenic activity.
