    An 11-year-old neutered male domestic short-haired cat was referred to Azabu University Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a detailed examination of recurrent azotemia. Extravasation of urine around the left kidney was suspected, and renal pelvis rupture was diagnosed during exploratory surgery, which revealed a defect in the ventral aspect of the left renal hilum and urinary leakage through the defect. Pyeloplasty was performed using a bladder wall patch. One week postsurgery, the procedure was repeated to repair recurrent urinary extravasation observed near the surgical site. After two operations, the cat made an uneventful postsurgical recovery.

    A dog had ovarian tumors with ascites. Following an ovariohysterectomy, no ascites were present. The dog had pleural effusion and ascites when the ovarian tumors recurred. The dog lived 47 months after ovariohysterectomy without an additional operation or chemotherapy. A treatment is available for dogs with ovarian tumors with pleural effusion and ascites.

    A diseased Japanese Black Cow was carried into our laboratory in August 2011. The cow had developed verrucous endocarditis, pulmonary thrombosis, petechial hemorrhage in the kidney. Gram-positive streptococci were isolated from lesions of the verrucous endocarditis and pulmonary thrombosis. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and coagglutination tests with sera for serotyping showed that these isolates were Streptococcus suis serotype 33. The present case was the first report of bovine endocarditis caused by S. suis serotype 33 in the world.
