An experiment on distillation of di- butyl- phthalate (D. B. P.) and di-butyl-sebacate (D. B. S.) mixture was conducted under pressures of 1.1 × 10
-3 torr, 2.5× 10
-3 torr, 4.4 × 10
-2 torr and 1.0 × 10
-1torr. The results were shown in Fig. 2. An effect of the pressure and the temperature on the relative volatility was represented by the equation (3) When 0.2 wt% of polyethylene glycol (M. W. 4000) was added to the mixture, the relative volatility was increased as shown in Fig. 4.
The distillation rate computed from table 1 for each component in D. B. P. and D. B. S. mixture was compared with the rate observed previously from respective distillations (Fig. 3) The differences in rates of the computation and observation were discussed in connection with molecular-burst-evaporation.
