    In many industries in Japan robotization and automation in services are aggressibely discussed because of handling the change of the economy, such as the decline in the workforce. An advanced robot hotel business is managed by Henn-na Hotel Huis Ten Bosch. The business was selected as a target for the case study to get a general perspective to see robot hospitality in hotel industry. The characteristics of robot hospitality was classified as: 1) code of hospitality, 2) stability of hospitality, 3) individuality of hospitality, 4) emergency in hospitality. The contribution from this study is to extend a framework to evaluate characteristics of robot hospitality.

    This report proposes a scientific method of organizational innovation and development. This method is based on information network analysis applied to e-mail log (e-mail communication archives) of an organization. The figure of the analysis result is different from the traditional organization chart, which is drawn by a manager, but he can know the current state of his organization more accurately. Also indicators by the result such as Betweenness, Degree Centrality, and so on, will be able to show the organization objectively, and it will be possible to operate differently than before. This method was used to a real company and its effectiveness was confirmed.

    This report describes that a statistical model that analyzes data of manufacturing work time is an efficient tool in strategic management. It also explains that, in the constantly changing business environment of the manufacturing sector, such model not only improves various elements in the work process, but can also structurally contribute to increasing the added value of the product.

    In the municipality which is working on the asset management, the stock management implementation policy in a city is the first effort in the country.In this paper, we report the case of the stock management implementation policy by utilizing asset management and asset management support tools that have begun to operate.

    By organizing the differences between asset management and stock management in the sewerage business and structuring each plan and idea, it was proved that working on asset management would contribute to formulating the stock management implementation policy.

    In this research, the author has searched for the senseware classified into “external senseware” and “internal senseware" from the viewpoint of “senseware required of the president”. In the previous research, there are “senseware of engineers” and “senseware of management”, but both pursue “inner senseware”. Therefore, I am proposing newly “external senseware” required of the president.

    In engineering enterprises, advanced integration capabilities is demanded towards to create highly-added values such as “smart infrastructure” which is redefined as servitization applying for “smart technologies” including IoT, AI and Robotics. Construction of smart factory or smart city through these advanced integration capabilities is expected to contribute to exporting infrastructure as national policy or resolving various social problems. This article shows a part of the collaborative research activities by the Engineering Advancement Association of Japan (ENAA). The research reveals to show possibility for conceptualization and the related analytic approaches for further advanced engineering businesses through “roadmapping” and “case analysis” of a smart technologies – smart cities.

  • Organization Quality Control to Improve the Reliability of Manufacturing Enterprises by Ethnographical Approach

    Because of the high context culture, Japanese are good at succeeding tacit knowledge, but not good at uncovering organizational quality problems. The purpose of this research is to propose a new quality control system to make aware quality problems which could not be realized by the current quality control system and to guess what should be for the organization.

    First, the quality problems in the Japanese manufacturing industry reported in recent years were extracted and the trends of them were organized. Second, methods inherent in the organization that served as a base to continue quality improvement were found. Finally, a new quality control model was proposed using ethnographical approach. This study could contribute to the expansion of reliability of the manufacturing companies.

    Chapter 3 of “Engineering Brands” series is “engineering brands supports product branding.”

    Business establishes when goods and services are exchanged between sellers and consumers. A product is evaluated based on a monetary unit and exchanged with an equivalent value between the seller and consumer. Engineering supports product development with competitiveness and uniqueness and differentiates one from others.

    In B2C business, features and characteristics are printed on product packages. It enables companies to deliver the message to consumers and market the products in a cost-effective way. Then purchasers share other buyers the product features with the information written on the package.

    B2B business also have a similar process. Development of engineering brands would start from a catchword or phrase. As time passes, buyers memorize product characteristics and the process leads to building engineering brands.

    This paper reports how “engineering brands” supports “product branding.”

    Products manufacturing and supply, which contain a lot of basic lessons for business management, are very important functions for products creation as well as products planning and development. This research was done to show what top management, especially less experienced management should learn about products manufacturing and supply. This paper discusses the basic process of products manufacturing and supply first. Basic concept of manufacturing is to achieve the targeted Quality(Q), Cost(C) and Delivery(D) by using Material, Man, Machine and Method(4M). Especially in order to create true added value, which generates more profits, the waste taking action such as waste of materials, waste of time, waste of waiting, waste of labor and so on is very important.

    Management accounting is very important and valuable tool for management to understand the difference between the planned goal and the real numbers and to take proper countermeasures timely.

    This paper also explains the benefit and risk of manufacturing in foreign countries and cost management by CVP (Cost Volume Profit) analysis.

    Currently the construction industry for houses in Japan is operating as an independent carpenter gets a contract of construction. This method makes hard to educate successors.

    We established the method of our original training system for beginners to break the current shortage of carpenters.

    This research was done to show“Creation of service business with‘Hospitality’ in a competitive environment ”. In the sustainable development of companies, the creation of services is very important, but the creation of services depends greatly on the business environment and hospitality. In the sales competitive environment of electric power by Japan’s electric power system reform currently being implemented, we were able to develop business to new fields by working on the creation of services by hospitality and communication. Competition environments may face business crisis, but by making new efforts there, it is possible to lead to growth of companies.

    In this paper, we will touch on Japan’s electric power system reform and we will mention the competing electricity sales market environment and hospitality leading to the creation of new services.

    To expand the company, I started with learning technical management and worked on SWOT analysis of my company.

    The analysis came to a conclusion that my mission is to develop human resources and make company where employees feel challenging and happiness.

    The brand of company is not only technology, but also those people working there.

It is the gifts of the steady efforts of AI engineers to finish AI so far, the foundation of which is technology advancement of IC.

    The world is about to enter the fourth industrial revolution, of course, AI will take the leading position among them.

    AI has advanced to a level surpassing humanity in intelligence, but how to master the part equivalent to human mind may be the next task.
