We all over the world are facing unprecedented situation, which is occurred by COVID-19 in 2020. This gives, fortunately or unfortunately, all the people the opportunity to take us into consideration deeply about what is working. COVID-19 is giving birth new working practice and promoting it in the society. It is called “At home work” or “Remote work”. In the meantime, I have established startup company in 2018. I have been exploring new-modeled organization structure comparing to conventional model which is the pyramid model. I have repeatedly tried and made errors in order to realize an ideal organization for 3 years. “Ideal organization” in this sentence means how suitable to adapt to my company culture and business model. I utilize a framework to research ideal organization. It is “Scenario Planning”. This is the frame work to enable us to anticipate the 4 future and lead us to cope with each scenario. I have drawn 4 scenarios of 2025 in era about working style in Japan society and tried to find the better way in my company by actual result.
This paper describes that improving individual productivity eventually contributes to individual wellbeing. To date, there have been several studies that have shown that 1) companies need to focus on employees’ willingness to learn for their personal development, 2) employees are eager to make valuable contribution in their workplace being driven by sense of accomplishment, 3) corporate transformation requires to buy in employees with demonstrating successive tangible results. The purpose of this paper is to verify these studies as valid throughout BASF Japan “WIN project” (Work style INnovation project), which drives flexible workstyle as well as improving productivity. This paper reports the results and insights that can be gleaned from its quantitative and qualitative findings throughout employees’ survey. “WIN project” has demonstrated that the company could improve its productivity by fostering diversity of its employees’ value, making it a corporate objective for employees to continue learning. It was also confirmed that a key success factor for corporate transformation is to focus on eliminating impediment factors for leaning. Consequently, both individual productivity and individual wellbeing could be achieved, which should be an enabler for corporate sustainable growth.
This Paper describes transformational leadership and shared leadership effectiveness in remote work environment. To date, there have been several studies that have shown that it is effective to involve diverse human resources and empower them for corporate growth. The purpose of this paper is to consider whether those leaderships are applicable in the remote work thrust by COVID-19. In this paper, we report a success of global company’s transformation in the remote management and consider how to engage human resources in the remote environment with limited communication. Flat organization and frequent and open communications play great roles to build trust and devolve job autonomy as well as to take corporate vision as our own. Accordingly, employees and companies would build win-win relationship as employees can stay motivated and create corporate value with speedy decisions.
With so much uncertainty about the future after COVID-19, company management must set globally agreeable goals such as for the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and seek to build competitive advantage tied to those goals, instead of just comparing themselves to the competition. In order to avoid this problem, we need to understand the collaboration between AI and humans as soon as possible, and consider the challenges and solutions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss not whether AI or ASI are going to steal human jobs, but rather the ideal way to optimally collaborate between AI or ASI and humans. Among other things, this study focuses on the acquisition of knowledge that humans gradually form through their experience of “working”. In this study, we collected data on the work of research students during transitional stages of intelligence formation through interviews. As a result, effective intentions and actions were specifically extracted to form and grow human wisdom. Although it was a limited investigation, it is significant that the complex relationships of human will and action were specifically identified as a starting point to clarify the optimal collaboration between AI and humans.
In this paper, we will construct a new agricultural/agricultural farming system that meets the needs for safe, nutritious and highly functional foodstuffs, and can systematically and stably produce and supply agricultural products. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the background to Toyota’s platform strategy of the smart city concept, and to discuss the merits and demerits of the WTA (Winner Takes All) strategy in the field of urban operating systems by comparing it with the case of two competing companies. Firstly, this paper introduces the inevitability of Toyota’s choice of this strategy by sorting out the factors. As a result, this paper discusses the urban operating systems platform strategy from the perspective of the WTA formation mechanism and suggests that the success of a company’s WTA strategy does not necessarily lead to benefits for urban residents.
Color coordination is an important fashion advice in which a specialist selects an appropriate color for a person after a series of conversations with the person based on an intuitive image of the person’s appearance. In other words, color coordination is an intuitive process that utilizes the expert’s implicit knowledge.
In this study, we conducted an experiment to confirm that hair texture, an external characteristic that has not been considered in conventional color coordination, affects the color coordination proposal.
As a result, it was confirmed that many people with frizzy hair tend to be suitable for light tones and many people with straight hair tend to be suitable for dark tones. In other words, hair texture influences color coordination suggestions, and we believe that the factor of hair texture should be taken into account for color coordination suggestions that are now being formalized by the introduction of applications.
REA model is accounting model with event approach, which was proposed by William McCarthy, and studied as business ontology. The REA model is suitable to describe business architecture with three elements such as Resource, Event and Agent. One of the field utilizing REA model is education of enterprise information systems. The author have an opportunity of a class for fundamental understanding of ERP, Enterprise Resource Planning, systems. This paper describes its objectives, issues and results for business IT education with using the REA model. Several findings are reported to consider business IT education in future. Lastly the necessity of its education is proposed in order to keep understanding of business process for not only students but also managers in business firms and programmers. The idea of further study ofIT education is described.
“Movable Estate” are multi-purpose spaces created on vehicles that are realized by the spread of MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and autonomous driving. This paper has two purposes. First purpose is to position the strategy of creating movable estate by MaaS using IoT and AI as a new innovation. Second purpose is to raise a hypothesis of a model of creating movable estate through refering to Toyota Motor Corporation’s cases of introduction to local governments and examining the issues of its strategy (in particular, regarding the undevelopment of Japanese laws and regulations of movable estate).

Conventional research in product development has analyzed the relationship between the research and development department and the product development department from the perspective of “exploration” and “exploitation”. However, in reality, organizations such as the marketing department, the operation department, etc. also support the product development.
The purpose of this study was to focus on “support organizations” to clarify their roles in the product development from the perspective of “exploration” and “exploitation”. We analyzed the technical reports of research and product development results published by Mitsubishi Electric Corp., and showed that “supportive organizations” contributed to the effective combination of “exploration and exploitation”.
Due to the global epidemic of COVID-19, it is feared that the mental health of people such as anxiety and depression will deteriorate. Essential oils are used overseas as complementary and alternative medicine, and their effects on anxiety and depression have been reported. However, it is mainly sold as an air freshener in Japan and is mainly used by women. By investigating the demands for essential oils and developing new products that are easier for more people to use, we thought that it would lead to sales expansion of essential oils and could easily improve mental health. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the age and gender difference in the extraction of requirements for essential oil products for Japanese. For that purpose, we first conducted a free-form questionnaire survey. Next, based on the questionnaire data, Correspondence analysis was performed using text mining. As a result, we were able to extract the age and the specific requirements of men and women.
The role of procurement team in a company has been increasing year by year, and the importance of development procurement is being focused on more and more instead of the conventional purchasing. And it has been found that the procurement strategy needs to be balanced between exploration and exploitation to achieve good results for the company. In this paper, we have shown through a case that it is effective for procurement team to do technology sourcing by utilizing its technological knowledge and supplier information. This enables the development team to focus on evaluation and examination of the technology that the procurement team has searched for. Then the development of new products will become more efficient.
Insurance companies have a lot of information about risks and accidents. They analyze these data to calculate the amount of risk and revise insurance premiums. It contributes to the stabilization of insurance system.
However, such valuable information is not used for quality and performance improvement of products.
Therefore, by focusing on “change of spatial concept”, “expansion of insurance concept” and “evolution of technology”, I’d like to propose a system for improving housing performance by utilizing abundant information of insurance. High performance housing realized by this system will support regional revitalization for a long time.
Facing Covid-19 pandemic, the creation and implementation of new norms of living, working and economic activities are sought through the world. Based on the proposal of “Liberation from the closed Box” by Mr Kengo Kuma, the new paradigm for the 21st century that combines new norms of urban design and use of natural energy and 5G ICT is outlined. And we show, briefly, a procedure for urban redesign, regional revitalization, and new business creation through multiple functions of Green City Fund.

In order to build the vision of engineering industry for sustaining regional community coping with super aging society in Japan, the new business research group in Engineering Advancement Association of Japan (ENAA) has been examining the ideal form of social infrastructure incorporating the latest smart technology and infrastructure business. Based on the prospects of “Society 5.0”, “Smart City”, and “Super City” projects in Japanese government policy, we focus the developing process through holistic approach of typical type of compact/smart city cases. Conducting field survey and case analysis of Toyama city, Strasburg city and Copenhagen city selected as typical successful cases, we show the demanded state of smart infrastructure and the possibilities of the related business introduction and continuity in each case. The case analysis involves roadmapping process with hierarchical layers such as social issues, service/business, infrastructure, smart technology (IoT, AI, RT) where various measures in each local government case are mapped.
In Japan, strengthening the competitiveness of local industries is mentioned as one of the main measures for the problem of shrinking regional economies. Various players are co-operating to improve productivity and efficiency of local industries. The active involvement of regional financial institutions is expected due to the sophisticated financial functions in the region. On the other hand, the business environment of regional financial institutions continues to be severe, and it is necessary to change to a sustainable business model in order to improve productivity of regional companies and contribute to the development of regional economies.
The purpose of this research is to clarify the value co-creation mechanism of regional financial services based on a case study of regional financial institutions’ activities in revitalizing regional economies. This research has implications for measures for sustainable regional finance and regional economic revitalization. In addition, this research shows practical implications for value co-creation not only by regional financial services but also by community-based service providers.
In this study, we emphasize the relative importance of management in developing new resources worth visiting called Unique Venue (UniqV), by drawing on findings from a case study of a Destination Management / Marketing Organization (DMO) based on an interview to the executive director of DMO Tokyo-Roppongi. The study shows that successful venuedevelopment is contingent upon the quantity and quality of the prevision of educational opportunities, the guarantee of access beyond the boundaries of the organization, and the sharing of service storytelling, through exchanging resources under the DMO management. The study also finds that specific management of DMO in venue development influences human behavior, goals or motivation in the resource co-creation process. The study concludes that the ability of these organization to co-create value is contingent on the level of area connectivity between human entities which engage themselves in service, more so than DMO that manage the process.
Japanese Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are not systematized. Furthermore, according to previous studies, it is said that there are various problems such as lack of knowledge of systemization and lack of recognition of influence on related organizations in work involving inter-organizational cooperation.In this research, we investigated whether simulated experiences using card games would be effective in solving problems. As a result of the survey, the cognitive gap was noticed, but it could not be said to be effective. However, there is a possibility that it will be possible to make the pseudoexperience more effective in the future by making it easier for the target company to imagine the industry. In the future, we would like to improve the means for simulating, to eliminate the lack of recognition of the impact on related organizations in the work involving inter-organizational cooperation, and to contribute to the systematization of Japanese SMEs.

This paper discusses the new image of the future of Japanese management by analyzing the consciousness structure of modern students who want to find employment. Currently, in Japan, the movement from the conventional membership type employment system to the job-focused employment is increasing, and the recruiting process is also changing from the simultaneous recruiting of new graduates to the full year recruitment and the job-focused recruitment. We conducted a survey of 102 university students as a research method of the consciousness structure for job hunting.
In conclusion, the strength of Japanese companies can be utilized only if the Japanese lifetime employment system that protects the employment of workers is protected. While maintaining a lifetime employment system, it is necessary to hire job-type employees and build a flexible hiring, training, and treatment system.
This study reports a case study of the use of “assertive communication” in university education services. It is shown that “assertive communication” had the effect of increasing employee engagement by activating communication within the organization with external customers (university students).”Assertive communication” is a communication style that respects each other’s opinions and emphasizes a frank exchange of ideas. Previous studies have shown that such an attitude of respect for each other’s opinions is a motivating factor. And it’s also known to increase employee engagement.
In response to the increasing demand for differentiated products, the concept of “mass customization” has become more important in the manufacturing industry.
This study has reported about the application of Kanban method which is used to transmit information in Just-In-Time production system for correspondence to customized products. The analysis using the event-based simulation has revealed the effect of reducing flowtime which is relevant for inventory valuation, when the change of production plan has occurred in each of the traditional and suggested methods. And more, Effects of the number of processes and the plan change ratio has investigated to make the method applicable to various products or conditions.
The purpose of this research was to focus on gender differences, find potential needs and conditions, and identify opportunities and challenges for market expansion through new product development.
In order to achieve the purpose, we analyzed the information of the words by potential customers obtained from the open-ended questionnaire using text mining.
As a result, the characteristics of how to use new products and the differences in expected effects specific to gender were extracted. In addition, the points to keep in mind when reflecting these characteristics and differences to new product development were confirmed.

This study examines the service platform model through actual states of current smart cities policies and Japanese super cities strategy as one of the macro stage of SDGs-age service innovation presented in our first paper to shed light on potential trends in comprehensive servitization in cities or local regions. Based on the concept of smart cities, the study clarifies the recent trends on government-led policies up to now, toward standardization not only about digitalization approaches to smart cities but also the analogous aspects of people and organizations of smart city initiatives across the public and private sectors. Furthermore, the framework and service ecosystem scope are demonstrated on actual innovative smart city cases and indicates the possibility of the concept of “community development OS” aiming on the future sustainable community.
