The aueous extract prepared on trial from the flower of Japanese medicinal ginseng, Panax Ginseng C. A. Meyer, cultivated in Nagano pref. was examined chemically and pharmacologically, comparing it with the usual, marketing extract prepared from the root of the same. The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1) Both the general physico-chemical properties and the contents of chemical ingredients are depended on what part is used and how to prepare the extracts. But generally it is difficult to find out the significant differences in the pharmacological effects among those extracts.
2) When we compare it with the existing extract made from the root, the new extract prepared from the flower has slightly more of irritable bitter matters, but it does not seem to be inferior therapeutically.
