We studied 6 cases with hepatic peribiliary cysts (HPBC) to clarify clinical chalacteristics of this disease. Six cases were male. One case was diagnosed histologically and five cases clinically. HPBC can be diagnosed by drip infusioncholangiography (DIC)-CT and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP). Although HPBC have usually been considered as clinically harmless disease, four cases in this paper showed clinical symptoms and laboratory data due to cholangitis. Even if the size of cyst is small, HPBC compressed the bile duct as presented in two cases. From this finding described above, HPBC may be distinguished from a group of congenital biliary cysts. Alcoholic liver injury were observed in four cases, but advanced liver disease was only one case (liver cirrhosis). The size and number of HPBC increased during follow-up period in three cases, but the mechanisms of the progression are not known.
