Objective The current clothes for physically handicapped people are often given priority to the function and the convenience for the caregivers. However, authors think that it is important that the physically handicapped people can choose various clothes for preference as well as a function in supporting the independence of them. The focus of this study is to get design guidance to balance ease of moving and the preference of the appearance about four kinds of sleeve shape for people with one contractural arm to enjoy wearing.
Methodology Five female students were made their right elbows fixed right-angled and were carried out some experiments of wearing blouses with four kinds of sleeve: tight sleeves, shirt sleeves, bishop sleeves, and leg-of-mutton sleeves. They evaluated ease of moving, and the design of sleeves as sensory evaluation. The clothing pressures were measured on eight points: the right and left shoulder points: posterior axillae, elbow points, and forearms. The data were analyzed by correlation and principal component analysis and were related to the adoption of their clothing.
Results In sensory evaluation for all sleeve shape, there were relationships between the enough spaces in sleeves and ease of moving, and between the enough spaces in sleeves and utilization to daily wear. The clothing pressure did not have a big influence on utilization to daily wear. And the place that felt pressure was different from the place where pressure appeared.

In Japan, recent years, elderly persons increased rapidly. Therefore, elderly persons have to work like younger persons from now on. In clothing industry, their targets are young persons, because of their purchasing power. There is no suitable clothing for elderly persons. We think that elderly consumers will be more and more. Many researches pointed that aging changes body shape so much. We tried to make the dress-form for an average shape elderly female person and to discuss some pattern drafting methods. We measured 70 elderly females aged from 60 year old to 70 year old by 3-D Scan methods. We selected one person who had average body shape and size. We took 52 cross sections from under-bust to hips. We made a dress-form by Styrofoam and we applied some drafting methods to this dress-form and discussed. The elderly females have flat hips and great abdominal projection. Because elderly females have not narrow waist, their front views of abdomen are square. We had to change side line curves and amount and sites of darts.

This study is to examine how the making of clothes and cloth has been related to people's everyday lives, and how it has become meaningful to them by drawing upon cases in the Aceh province of Indonesia. The cases were collected during our fieldworks in Aceh in 2009-2011. Throughout Aceh, we found a type of production system in which a woman director (
pengusaha) who owns or operates a company or craft studio organizes a group of women workers (
pengrajin) to make embroideries, clothes and cloth when they are on hiatus from childrearing and domestic works. The director (
pegusaha) collects finished products and sells them at market or to customers in remote towns, and pays workers. We also found that a nation-wide, governmentally-supported organization,
DEKRANAS, established in 1981 has been encouraging and promoting the production of local traditional crafts including clothes and cloth, by providing opportunities to transfer skills, to promote marketing and to upgrade designs. Usually women civil officers and wives of civil officers are members of the organization. Some of them think the
DEKRANAS work as "social," a voluntary contribution to local life. The making of clothes and cloth sustained by the above-mentioned production system and the
DEKRANAS in Aceh has survived difficult times (conflict and tsunami) and has contributed to caring for people in Aceh mentally.

To investigate the effects of heating systems on the human body, experiments were conducted with 6 young (24 +/- 4 years old) and 6 old men (69 +/- 5 years old). The climatic chambers were set at air temperature (Ta) of 10 °C and 25 °C with 50% relative humidity (RH). Undressing room (1.8 m x 1.8 m x 2.2 m) was heated for 20 min by one of three different heating apparatuses with the same electric power (500W) before the subject entered. The Ta in the undressing room was at between 14°C and 17 °C when the subject walked from 25 °C chamber and stripped down, and then increased to between 18°C and 22°C during the experiment. The rectal temperature was higher in the old men than the young men although no significant difference was found in the mean skin temperature (MST). The MST was 33.5°C, 31°C, 30.5°C, and 29°C in the radiant heating, forced air heating, floor heating, and no heating, respectively. The old men showed colder and more uncomfortable than the young men in the undressing room. In the 25°C no significant difference was found in the blood pressure between old and young men, however, the systolic blood pressure (SBP) increased significantly in the undressing room. The SBP was significantly higher in the old men than the young men in the undressing room. The SBP of the young men using radiant heating was significantly lower than that using the carpet and no heating, however, there was no significant difference in the SBP for the old men among the heating conditions.

The northern Naramachi district, located in the northeastern part of the old city of Nara, has a long history dating back to ancient times. The district is dotted with traditional town houses, and is the dwelling district adjacent to Todai-ji, a world heritage site.
In the year 2000, the Imai Research Group of Nara Women's University administered a questionnaire survey in this district where there is a comparatively high rate of existing traditional buildings. In 2011, we conducted a questionnaire survey in the same districts. In addition, a questionnaire survey was conducted on residents living in condominiums or apartments at this district.Furthermore, we conducted an appearance survey of buildings facing the road in order to examine the relationship between changes in the lodging style of families due to living separately from children and the sustainability to settlement, a landscape survey was conducted in June 2011 to determine how building appearance had changed since the 2000 survey, and the relationship with the family type and size was analyzed.Out of the 595 buildings surveyed in 2000, 76 were change in another residents, vacant lot, parking lot and vacant houses. It is important to encourage newly-come residents, and provide the child-rearing spaces for new young residents, improve the space available for tourists considering a tourist town, take advantage of existing club and a traditional town house.

The objective of this study is to understand the change of resident's consciousness as an active stage of community for improvement and sustainability through the acivity of a neighborhood assosiation in a community in Japan. Most residents of housing developments in the suburbs that were built between 1960s and 1970s in Japan appear uninterested about each other as they are aging now. Securing a reliable public transportation facility that is essential, as lack of it hinders them as a sustainable community. This time I researched the current state on the community at East Akutami on listening to the directors. There are some places where people together as singing dear songs, putting the mountains in good condition, and so on in East Akutami. They notice that it is important for elder people to communicate with the other people outside. And they recognize that retired people work as volunteers and are generally accepted in the community. The directors of neghborhood association in East Akutami produce always a new device. In this way the change of resident's consciousness is increasing. As a result, it is inferred that the approach on the community bus service by the neighborhood association made residents to improve their community awareness as the number of volunteers of the safety patrol in the region showed an increase. It is considered that residents feel a strong attachment and identity for their community.
