An male Panthera sondaica (tiger) was imported on May 14, 1955. The most notable clinical findings during 2-3yars befor death were considerable cough and subnutriation. The cough and coryza specially increased from early 1961. Pneumonia was clinical diagnosis. He suddenly died on April 21, 1961. The tiger was dissected. The results obtained were as follows ; 1) Remarkable snbnutriation and marasmus. 2) There were many Parasitic cysts in the both lnngs. (149 cysts in the left lung, 169 cysts in the right lung.) The parasite was demonstrated as paragonimus Westermanie. 3) The findings recognized as perforation of portal vein wall and irregular spaces in hepatic tissue were suspectable rout of parasites. 4) Cystoma in submucosa of large and small intestine due to metacercaria. 5) Broncho-Pneumonia and coryza. 6) Cardial hypertrophie and dilatation of right ventricle and atrium. Fatty degeneration of cardial muscle. 7) Hypertrophie of submucosal membrane of large and small intestine. 8) Catarrh of stomach, small and large intestine. 9) Tenia catus of small and large intestine. 10) Petechia (pericard, Pleura, diaphragma, submucosa and subserosa of large and small intestestine, submucosa of trachea and bronchus.). 12) Cloudy swelling and haemangioma simplex in liver. 13) Nephrose and stagnation of both kidneys. 14) Cystitis. 15) Struma Parenchymatosa. 16) Leucoma corneae.

Survey was conducted on the effect of fluoridation of communal water supply on the dental caries prevention among the inhabitants of Yamashina-machi, Kyoto City, receiving the fluoridated water. Control groups were selected from both the inhabitants of the same town drinking the water from domestic wells and from the residents of Shugakuinmachi, the neighbouring district, with similar social environment, sharing the common headspring but being supplied with non-fluoridated water. Examination of the dft and DMFT numbers on the mouth of the public school pupils from the 3 districts revealed the following results. 1. Comparison of the average numbers of decayed teeth between the two groups receiving the fluoridated and non-fluoridated water showed that there was no appreciable difference found in the average number of the dft, whereas the average number of the DMFT and average indices of the DMFT were shown to be lesser in the subject group of the fluoridated district than in those of the non-fluoridated district. 2. The average number of decayed teeth as expressed by the numbers of dft and DMFT was slightly greater in the group drinking the domestic water than in the group receiving the fluoridated communal water. 3. Statistical analysis by the χ^2-test also indicated a close correlation existing between the water fluoridation and the number of decayed teeth, revealing definite reduction in the number of decayed teeth in the subjects receiving fluoridated water. 4. The percentage reduction of dental caries incidence among the subjects receiving the fluoridated water was 22 percent.

In the tooth exchange of an individual it has been vaguely assumed that deciduous teeth with relatively large size would be succeeded by permanent ones with proportionally large size, and inversely deciduous teeth with smaller size by permanent ones with correspondingly smaller size. The problem, however, seems to remain a pure conjecture since there are few such studies available from statistical view-Point. This scarsity of study is due in part to difficulty of in vivo study on an individual whose first milk tooth, for instance, and its successor, the permanent second premolar are to be examined collaterally as to the sizes and other morphological traits. In the present study the difficulty was overcome by selecting those subjects who are provided with both the second milk molar and the permanent first molar, and by taking plaster models of jaws from these subjects. On these plaster models Observations and measurements were conducted on the teeth of the right side of upper and lower jaws and comparison was made on the mesio-distal and linguo- buccal diameters of the teeth with the coefficients of correlation. Correlation between the milk teeth and their successors was also studied on the number of cusps of upper tooth crowns and on the Dryopithecus pattern in the lower teeth. The results of study revealed that positive correlation existed with both mesio-distal and bucco-lingual diameters of these teeth, which means that larger milk second molars are followed by correspondingly larger permanent first molars and smaller milk second molars by smaller permanent ones. It was also revealed that certain degree of correlation was shown to exist between the milk second molars and permanent first molars with respect to the changes in the cusp forms of upper tooth crowns and in Dryopithecus pattern of lower jaw teeth.
